carbon fiber dash kit

I would love it if it is what I am thinking the three pieces are.

Please email me at [email protected] so we can confirm, work out payment, and the other details.

I just bought the kit. It originated from Florida Trim at http://www.flautotrim.com

I will post pictures once I get it.

I may or may not also be looking for pieces for the top of the dash and around the instruments. My main reason for getting this is my car is a daily driver and is starting to buckle in the plastic around the radio buttons.

The owner also convinced me that these kits are basically all the same so matching won't be a problem - although I don't think I will be looking for the extra pieces.

On my car the top part with the clock extends over the plastic where the radio buttons are (never noticed this before but all the NSX's I have seen have this slight overlap). It's my hope that the CF piece will now be "flush" with the top piece. Also - I can put it up there and see how it looks before I apply it and it can be removed with Alcohol (another bonus).

Nick, mine has bubbled in several places as well. Are you planning on trying to peel the old stuff off before you put the new on? If not, I'd be very interested in your results.

Just scrape off any loose parts and apply over dash pieces..by the way the 6 piece set looks better. Matter of fact I saw acura was offering factory molded pieces that looked better than anyones.See 2002 NSX options at factory website...thks

I do have the wrinkles and they are very "thin" at this point. I do not want to remove the pieces first so I am thinking about applying over the top of the wrinkles.

An alternative would be to sand them down with a dremel tool prior to installation.

As for the 6 piece vs the 3 piece kit I will have to see. I am not sure I like the piece on the ash tray cover or around the clock.

It seems a little funny to me that you call the six piece sets a joke in light of the fact that you do not offer them,I am not a dealer so my line of B.S. maybe a little shorter, but I live in Texas and we see alot of heat "down" here and none of the 16 fellow NSXers that had the 6 piece kits have had a problem. I don't care how many kits you sell but try to be honest about your products when you are peddleing them on free NSX sites....thks Brent

P.S. this site NSX Prime has photos of molded factory pieces. look up 2002 NSX cosmetic changes, scroll down past exterior colors and see the different factory? options I would like to have that set, it is molded to go under-around the emergency brake too. looks pretty cool...Also the gentleman selling the new silver-color. why 410.00? your others are 310-320.00 range...they do look good....Later...

what about an actual dash / center section REPLACEMENT ??

Not a CF stick-on overlay, but a replacement for the OE plastic/metal unit -- would save money and increase rigidity. and CF looks cool

The molds / patterns should be available already -- someone is selling these in CFRP.

BTW - I bought Bob's 3 piece kit and LOVE it. Bob sent me a picture of his convertable NSX (pretty cool looking).

Anyone wants pics let me know. I like the 3 piece kit as it is classy and the other pieces stand up too much in my opinion. Now the bottom piece and the top piece are flush too.

I am VERY happy and can't believe how much I like this. I still have some tine wrinkes too far in by the buttons that the kit does not cover and it was difficult to get it perfect with the tape wanting to stick - but much better then how it looked and the price and quality are outstanding.

Sorry this took so long to post / here are the pictures of the CF kit.
These were taken at night - quickly so they really don't do it justice but I
think you can tell the fit, finish, and effect.</p>

THIS IS NOT EVEN REAL CARBON FIBER

that is simulated carbon fiber

that is not even real ! no wonder they are so cheap in cost $125.00

but some people like the simulated carbon fiber I guess it is all personl choice
www.iptdashkits.com has the real thing

look at this picture you can tell real versus fake
http://www.iptdashkits.com/suprealcarfi.html http://www.iptdashkits.com/suprealcarfi1.html http://www.iptdashkits.com/s20004.html http://www.iptdashkits.com/s20005.html

I just get mad when someone claims to sell carbon fiber kits and it is simulated not real

Hey - I love the look and from the web site they claim it to be REAL carbon fiber.

Are you objecting to the epoxy that covers most/all of these kits?

Are your kits 100% carbon fiber with no backing or covering?

Are you saying that the COST of CF is what differentiates your kit from this one?

Can you give us a hint at how much your company pays for a whole role of CF and how much goes into a dash kit?

You have opened up this so maybe you can educate us.

underneath the epoxy is 100% carbon fiber

(matteni) your are getting kind of technical with the real/simulated dash

let me eplain

ours kits we carry start with a roll of 100% real carbon fiber

then they are cut by a cutter

next the epoxy clear coat/resin goes on top makeing sure there is no fisheyes or trash in the resin

after that the 3m adhesive is on the back
there are 3 diffrent kind of 3m adhesive

we use 3m acryilic faom tape thiner than usal and will not harm your origianl dash underneath

matteni can you tell the diffrence between real and fake

Know we are makeing molded carbon fiber parts for the following cars .. not having do with the dash (except for the NSX)

NSX
RSX
S2000
CELICA GT
CELICAGT-S
LEXUS IS300
TOYOTA SUPRA
2002 CIVC SI
00 CIVIC SI

If anybody is going to be at SEMA this year stop buy and take a look this will be are debut

These parts will be in real carbon fiber

not fiberglass parts with a carbon overlay
in other words not a 50/50 part

for these parts we will be using aerospace composite materials, similar to formula 1 teams such as WEST and FERRARI, to gurantee the best possible fit, finish ,thickness and durability

We will be using a autolave for these parts with heat and pressure

Come by and see at SEMA

Hi Parker,

I thought your email to me was private so since it wasn't here is my response.

Most if not all of this stuff is "shot" from a photograph of real carbon fiber.

The process is very similar to "Pergo" floors. The reason is most people prefer the "perfect" carbon look to the reality. In truth - the real stuff looks much worse to most then the fake stuff. The fake stuff is too perfect - but is what most people want.

In the end - the real benefit of CF is it's strength / weight ratio. With all the backing, epoxy, and the fact that this is laid over and not a replacement - the whole point is looks - not weight savings.

So again - do you like the look of real/imperfect CF and are you willing to pay 3x more for it? Real or not - 90% of what you are paying for is the looks, epoxy top coat, and 3m backing - right.

I for one DO like your kit. I just don't like it $200 more. I don't know if you remember me but I emailed you a couple of months ago about it. It just was beyond what I was willing to spend for these.

Everyone who has sat in my car loves the subtlety of the 3 piece kit and the looks. I have seen the 6-7 piece kit and they are far from OEM IMO. I don't know about your kit but on the NSX kit I saw the piece around the clock and over the ashtray looks awful IMO. It just stands out too much.

Good luck with your kit. I am very happy with this kit's fit, finish, looks, and price and was simply reporting on that. We both know most of these kits are exactly the same and there are people selling the exact kit I bought for a LOT more then I spent. Those that want a thin sheet of real CF sandwiched between epoxy and 3M backing tape will decide for themselves if the extra money is worth it.

Now - I think EVERYONE would be interested in REAL CF NSX body parts - not dash kits. If I can make it to SEMA I will look you up. IMO - there is a huge advantage in the CF parts and this is were an all CF part VS. a fiberglass / CF part really shines.

Good luck - thanks for the email.
