cd changer

TRYING to keep my new NSX purchase stock........
Initially had an error message for cd changer, reset it via disconnecting for a few minutes...now tracks play for approximately 15 seconds then proceeds to next track..I've tried multiple cd's w/same results.
Any ideas?

I have never looked inside the NSX CD changer, but I had an old (circa 1983) Panasonic CD player for home use that began to do something similar. I opened up the unit and discovered that the grease (green, transparent) on the fine thread screw (about 3 inches long) that runs the laser across the CD had clumped up and gotten very thick. That prevented the laser from moving smoothly.

My solution was to remove the old grease carefully using carburetor cleaner, then re-grease the screw using thin white grease (Lubriplate was what I had at the time). The unit worked well again for many years.

I don't know if you have the same gremlin, but I hope this helps.
