CEL and VTEC?

I was told that if my CEL was on my VTEC would not engage is this correct? It's on due to running test pipes that need to be replaced with cats.

Mine power tailed off soon after 6500 with CEL on.

They work great.

I do think the car will still go into VTEC mode though, regardless. The CEL should be rear 02 sensor out of range.

And where did you install these?

Soemthing else is not correct then, since I have done this numerous times with 100% success.

We got them installed at Plans - well trusted mechanics (based at Top Gear test track). Both of us (04 and 05) have had the issue. I can't see what can be wrong with installation - we are getting catalyst below threshold on both banks. What years did you install them on, and what cats?

The rear O2 sensors (post cat - the ones that are flagging up) - but will check. The sensors themselves appear fine - by fine mean that they are giving a signal.
