Hi, My 92 nsx is having a clunking sound coming from the rear passenger side, i haven't been able to figure out what the problem is but when i drive the car, on deceleration in gear or in neutral it makes a clunking noise.. heres some video of the axle in the air...looks like the movement is uneven but no clunking sound when in the air, can anyone assist me? thanks

Is there any "slack" in the drivetrain?

Can you grab the axle and shake it around?

If so it is probably the bearings on the dogbones inside the cv joint boot.

The boot may have been torn and all of the grease escaped leaving the cv joint unlubricated then repaired.

i can grab it and it shakes a little, not much...the seller of the used axle i bought said he replaced the boot on the inner side and regreased it.

Mud in your tires?

Looks like the axle is not assembled correctly, or a bearing is bad. The axle shaft is clearly moving up and down during one full rotation. Needs to be removed, replaced, or rebuilt properly.

Like larry said the only way to see whats wrong is to have a nsx tech disassemble the cv join and look inside.
