Factory 2013 NSX info sent to dealers

thats just your Cialis kicking in... quick! find a bathtub on a hill at sunset

Its a fun enjoyable mental excercise like talking about your friend's hot cousin that is coming to visit for the summer and hoping that she moves in and sits next to you in math class

What kind of analogy is that? Math class?
Math class was 44 years ago!
Boy, you better go to bed before you're mamma sees you still have the light on and grounds you for a month!:biggrin:
Moves in and sits next you in math class. That's rich.:biggrin:

Mostly referring to Doc John's little twinge in his nether regions

...and the absurd possibility that Honda will release something that envokes a similar level of adolescent anticipation as a friend's smoking hot cousin that ends up sitting next to you in math class... makes perfect sense

We will see her in 4 days and solve for X

You didn't know that? It was stated multiple times from different sources. This will be an exterior concept ONLY, probably the exact same concept buck that was shown in Las Vegas.

I agree that this is meaningless. I feel like Honda got some positive response from the leaked Avengers shots and decided to quickly hobble together a coupe based on that vehicle. Now they're scrambling trying to flesh out an actual design. If this had been more developed they would not be showing us this exterior concept only.

I have a strong feeling that they will not present final engine specs because quite frankly they haven't figured that part out yet.

I really hope I'm 100% wrong and that they're much further along, but I doubt it.

LOL See The man remembers nothing! He just keeps talking to build post count:biggrin:

Seriously though although this will be a mock that they showed to the dealers some background stuff is happening that shows this car is going to production.

What's interesting that they're not giving more specs. If it was just an exercise we wouldn't be hearing so much. The Lexus LF-LC is just a concept so plenty pics online outside and you can see an actual interior.

HSC we got pics and specs before the autoshow. ASCC again we were told engine specs but autoshow body was a moc with no interior.

NSX 2.0??? Nothing. All the hybrid specs that are being thrown at it here and other publications are from the upcoming RL! The earth dreams engine specs given have never been advertised for anything but a "larger" vehicle. All the magazine articles are just selling hype for those not paying that much attention.

This is what has been confirmed by Honda.
1. That they will show a NSX 2.0 concept
2. It will be mid engine hybrid

That's it! Car and driver confirmed it got the green light and their source was right that the car would debut around the time of the new RL in twelve to eighteen months. So counting down to see what's true and what isn't

3. didn't they say it will be similar to the Avengers car!?

Yes but I left that out since it's not a "spec". That tells a quite a bit as the could have just showed the Avengers car and said "hey look at this now go home as that's all we're doing".

Honda had some Acura execs come and say it's only a prototype and can be cancelled at anytime but that was stupid and they realized it so now they're going for all the hype they can get.

I'm pretty sure with all the mistakes they've made lately they know that choking a third will get them completely written off so now it's all "This will be our new direction blah blah"

Question? Has anyone considered that if the car only has 400hp they might be using the new earth tech 2.5 four cylinder with all the battery enhancements to keep the weight down? If they get 120hp per liter out of the 2.5 doesn't that hit 300?? Then 100+ from the wheel motors gets to four hundred and some weight loss. Just a thought:biggrin:

Since we are speculating...

I think Honda will go the opposite way. All the talk about green this, efficiency that, is all a ruse! Its just a coverup for what they are going to truly reveal:

An NSX with a longitudinally mounted rear-mid V10 from the HSV, SH AWD with electric motors up front. It will meet the GTR in straight line acceleration and destroy it in the corners. All this for the low price of $1000 cheaper than the current GTR. But no cupholders.

This is really what we want, isn't it? Maybe with the cupholders.

I like this part of your dream the best:

"will destroy a GTR in the corners".

LOL... You know a GTR is really really good in the corners... Right?

The NEW NSX: the sound of one hand clapping.

Mid engine and lighter weight plus Hondas SHAWD is supposedly superior to the Nissan system but we really won't know until we get specs and tests are done.

Anyone get this?

Motortrend released the scoop:
http://www.motortrend.com/auto_shows/detroit/2012/1203_2012_detroit_acura_nsx_concept/

The two-seater features a cab-forward arrangement and a mid-engine layout (a la the last NSX). The concept's hybrid powertrain uses a direct-injected V-6 (likely displacing 3.5 to 3.7 liters) matched to a seven-speed twin-clutch automatic with a newly developed integrated motor assist system. Tentatively dubbed Sports Hybrid AWD, the powertrain uses electric motors at each front wheel for torque vectoring and independent wheel control.

Acura expects V-8 performance with better-than-four-cylinder fuel economy. Hypothetically, it should be faster and more fuel-efficient than the original NSX. Our Frank Markus got firsthand experience with an early version of this next-generation SH-AWD in Japan in a prototype Accord and reports that it "was enough to suggest the V-8-performance claims have merit and that the all-electric axle does indeed enhance handling over a much wider set of driving circumstances."

According to Markus, the transmission will be a wet-clutch design. Since the IMA motor isn't hard-coupled to the engine but is affixed to an output shaft, IMA enjoys a wider range of freedom than the current setup. This increased IMA "hybridness" should provide the NSX concept with even greener credentials.

No it doesn't look like that LOL

This is downright hysterical! The closest we know it looks like the the Avengers car we saw a few months back.

THREE DAYS TO GO GUYS! I promise pics as soon as they pull back the cover. Sit tight

The Avengers car was ugly. My question is, MotorTrend is VERY reputable on this type of stuff and always has been over the years, are you telling me they are COMPLETELY wrong?

Yes they are. Only reputable person I know of that saw the actual ar with the dealers in Las Vegas is Jeff from vtec.net. The pic posted is very very old and is just an artists idea. Someone posted the same pic in a thread on vtec.net and Jeff responded saying the car looks nothing like what he saw.

If you don't like the Avengers car then you won't like NSX 2.0 as from what Jeff says they are pretty close other than one being a coupe and the movie car being a convertible.

Honda has not released any pics and they took all the cameras before letting anyone into the room at the dealers show to see the car. Motortrend is using a pic they found online from another website.

So I have a question for everyone.

Honda is bring a car to the NAA with no interior, with supposed performance features that is not well known to them or yet to be proven, and according to the new CEO, they started working this car only last year (2011), do you really think it will be ready by 2014 model, introduce by 2013?

Took them six year to figure out the NSX while VTEC existed a year before they figured out a DOHC over the old Legend block will do the trick, and now the standard model year cycle is 5 years for Civics and Accord... To design and built.

I'm trying really hard to be optimistic... You know what I mean?

If they want to shock the industry, they'll announce a mid engine diesel electric V6........ Chooooo Chooo! lol

I just came back from the San Jose Auto Show. Acura's rep told me there will be a big announcement on the new NSX on Monday, and he said this is the real deal.

So do you believe it?

I believe there will be an announcement about a car, that is possibly being developed, that could be the next NSX, and might be further along than the concept stage, but specific details will be hard to come by because nothing is final.

How solid is that? I believe it.

My dream of an awd longitudinally mounted mid engine V10 NSX 2.0 destroying GTRs in corners has now been upgraded to annihilating.

Even as a concept, I won't believe a single thing Honda says about it until it's on the showroom floor and/or in my garage.

That said I'm cautiously optimistic about Monday or any leaked photos over the weekend.
