Ford suing Ferrari over F-150..

From the article:

"Dearborn-based Ford says in Wednesday's filing that its trademark is being harmed..."

HA! A Ferarri bringing down the Ford name brand!

Perhaps it's FORD that bringing down the Ford name brand.

The problem is that you have to defend your trademark against every infringement - no matter how stupid, otherwise you loose the trademark protections.

Ding ding ding! Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Having worked at the USPTO, that is exactly what it is.

However, from the article:

"Ford also seeks unspecified damages from Ferrari."

Which indicates there might be more because you can defend a patent/trademark without filing for compensation.

The Ford/Enzo Ferarri feud still lives on!

Apparently Ferrari tried to make the argument that the "F" in the Ford F-150 stands for "Ford" but the "F" in Ferrari F150 stands for "Fuck You Ford" so they're not the same.

reminds me of this F-150 over a ferrari

and its already been on fire

Felipe Massa’s new Ferrari: on fire

Ferrari has unveiled its Formula One contender for 2011 - the F150.
The name, as it happens, stems from 150 years since the unification of Italy, and not at all the number of ‘For Sure' slogans Fernando Alonso is contractually obliged to say this season. It features loads of technical advancements and engineering excellence that will undoubtedly make it Very Fast Indeed.
This week, it also featured quite a lot of fire, as Felipe Massa found out. During testing at Valencia, an oil pipe came undone, vomited the black stuff onto the exhaust and then exploded.
"It was a silly thing", explained Ferrari technical director Aldo Costa. Click through for the inevitable gratuitous pics.

Ford also sued Toyota 10 years ago for trying to call their Tundra the T150. It was an extension of the T100 which Ford had no issues with. Against Toyota I can see because it's directly in their segment but Ferrari?

I think a high speed collision between a sports car and a full size truck is like slamming matter into anti-matter.

Just imagine if the velocities of that collision was higher to the point where the F458 was crushed, but also became a ramp where it would have launched the truck up in the air and possibly right on the roof.
