How best to fix a deep scratch in bumper cover?

I felt the need to follow up and make some 'adjustments' to some of my comments that were perhaps just a little bit too all encompassing. The cause for this correction was that I was doing a little clean up work on my daily driver. I had previously done some paint repairs on this vehicle using a product named U-POL. These are custom blend precharged spray bombs that are typically available from automotive paint specialists. I vaguely recall that this can cost something like $25 Cdn at the time. What is significant is that while doing the clean up work, I discovered that the U-POL is significantly more durable than the lacquer style touch up paints in the bottles and sticks that Honda and others sell. Repeated wiping of the previously painted U-POL surface with an acetone soaked rag showed no wipe off of the U-POL.

Perhaps the U-POL (there are probably other similar products) was the type of 'paint shop' paint that goldNSX was referring to. I suspect that blending / leveling would have to be done with wet sanding (or scraping as goldNSX mentioned) as opposed to the solvent based leveling that I suggested. The down side to the U-POL was that the paint shop only sold formulations where the base and clear are mixed together in a single can. This gives OK results; but, not great results. It may be possible to get custom mixes where the base and clear are separate; but, not where I live at the time I bought my stuff. Anyway, an additional repair product option that probably provides a more durable repair than the lacquer based paints.
