This isn't some Internet photo. This is a local Facebook friend who needs some help learning how to
use a jack on his Acura CL. It's not funny but it kind of is... No one was hurt.

Glad nobody was hurt. I knew someone who lost thier life by improperly setting up jack stands. Was crushed by the front lower control arm. On a lighter note... That sucks!

Yikes, definitely sucks. However, he/she may not be entirely to blame. I wondered whether proper lifting of the car was covered in the owners manual, and for both my NSX and Fit, it wasn't. The owner's manual only covers using the jack that comes with the spare tire, and nothing about proper use of jack and jack stands. That info is only covered in the service manual. So it looks like the owner used a jack at the proper lift point, but then had nowhere to place the jack stand. He/she may not have known about the separate jack point beneath the car (assuming there is one). It looks like he only lifted one corner of the car. In such a situation, such as for swapping a tire, I usually just rely on the jack.

I know how to jack a car properly but I still leave wheels etc. under the frame just in case something fails that is not supposed to. Who knows if a car was wrecked and repaired poorly or if there was a defect in equipment you are using to support the car. I know I've done it improperly in the past so I have sympathy for those that have accidents.

I use to jack stands and 1 lift on each side @ the mid frame of the NSX just incase. OMG I don't know what I would do. The idea of even trying to repair that is scary.
