Interested in buying an NSX Type S

Hey all,

Clearly there aren't very many of these, but browsing CG, there are like 10-15 nationwide, and wondering what I should be looking for. I don't think there's a single one with more than 1000 miles either. Is there a reason these aren't being driven? Also... Is there such thing as CPO warranty? Can any Acura dealer sell them? What price should I be looking at for one? Most are listed around 240, but have been sitting for months.

Canada - 3 for sale that have been sitting for AGES (Gotham $375k, Yellow #331? $320k, Red #344 $355k)

US - 20 for sale but my god there's a cheap one VIN: 19UNC1B04NY000092 listed at $187,495:

If you follow through to the dealer site, it says Please Call for price haha. Looks like it may be a "new" unit with default price on autotrader as the listed MSRP. Do you think there's room to haggle on Type S? I am in the US though so it seems there is quite a bit of supply like you mentioned about 20. Honestly seems like a lot for such a limited car haha

there are those who flipped
most being offered by a random exotic dealer will be a resell meaning they have a cost basis above msrp
many will be loved and owned by "fans" the rest are "the market"
there should be no issues if not bent/modded

I’m thinking of upgrading my 2017 NSX to a type S as I am not sure I can stomach another 911 and don’t love my current options package. Wife not pleased I’d be in twice as deep though (paid 140).

Unless you really want an S you will get some updates going with a 19 and up at a better price..The differences between the S, a 19 ,and the 17-18 are very subtle, but are noticeable if you drive all 3 versions.

Yes, I agree. The big change from 17,18 to the 19 was tires, sway bars, and tighter dampers. I spoke with one person who wanted to do the changes. I suggested that he purchase the sway bars and damper module on eBay. There was a salvaged 21 that was parted out. The sway bars were cheap along with the module. In fact for those who want their Acura Link to work again, buy a used module from a later car.

Going from a 19,20,21, to a type s will take a lot more money. Aside the exterior parts, the internal parts are too extensive including new turbos, new intercoolers, updated traction battery and software, software changes for the dampers, transmission, and twin motors.

I would do the 19 stuff and then go with the Ktuner or JB4 stuff along with downpipe.

The audio in my 17 doesn’t suit me and I’m getting weary of the ceramic brake feel in my dirty cold climate. Paint is dull. Sucks having one of they best cars and no way to trade up

I haven’t driven one, but I suspect the different gear ratios for the front motors and a newer battery are going to be big steps forward here

There was a guy who updated the Stereo system. You can fit the steel rotors on your car. Mario did that after wearing his ceramics and damaging one. The paint, get someone to color sand and buff it out. It will be a whole new car.

These are so much better than the universally derided ContiSportContact 5P tires.

The wheel spacers also bring me closer to the Type S stance. But my Type S journey probably ends here, since I’ll keep the stock suspension.

Ahh, yes I did want the Type S wheels and posted a Want To Buy here. I checked the wheel prices and decided to delay that option. But if I can get a great deal from a dealer — wink, wink

As with any exotic cars, mileage is typically lower since people have multiple cars and they share the mileage or simply don't have time to drive them often.
