Interior/exterior coating for new car?

Just bought a new Honda CR-V. Dealer offered both an interior and exterior coating (cloth interior). Regardless of what they offer in general do any of these things work? Do you recommend a particular treatment? The wife is concerned that scotchguard stinks. Also we have two dogs that lick anything in sight so no interior coatings that might hurt them.

You answered your own question. Your wife doesn't like the smell and you don't want your dogs to ingest it by licking the seats.

These add ons have little value in terms of price and performance. The markup on these items/services is about 90%.
It's a great dealer "up sell" that preys on the "gosh I paid a lot for this car, I hope it lasts and stays new for a while" feelings people have when they buy a new car.
Pass.
Buy some good detailing/cleaning supplies. You'll have better and longer lasting results and, very likely pay much less.

That crap they sell is marked up hundreds of percent. The same exterior treatment can be purchased by the bottle for just a couple bucks. It's just you gotta do it yourself and depending on the color of the car and how meticulous you want to be, it can take a whole day.

This is my opinion and not fact...

Those treatments are a waste of money.

In my experience, you have to re-apply even the best exterior waxes, etc. over time. One treatment will not last forever. Same goes for the interior and since you can literally buy scotchguard at Target or Walmart for next to nothing and do your floormats, seats, etc. yourself... it's a waste.
