JDM speed de-restriction

Hi all

any Japanese or Australian NSXers here who can advise on how best to remove the 180 kmh speed limiter from a JDM NSX?

a new NSXer in London is not getting the most out of his new toy!

I believe the speed limiter in a function of the ECU. You could try an ECU from a car built for a different country, chip your ECU or find some one who could build a circuit to divide you speed sensor signal in half.

I dont suppose you would go with something fancy like an APEXi RSM.
Rev/Speed meter for the serious enthusiast. Gives standing 1/4 mile times, 0-100 km/h, 0-200 km/h, 0/300 km/h. Also acts as a trip meter, tacho and speedometer.

Also allows Japanese vehicles to overide 180 km/h limiter.

find some one who could build a circuit to divide you speed sensor signal in half.

I guess you mean divide it by an appropriate value rather than half because the speedo will show completely wrong speed otherwise.

And in most Honda's with VTEC engines, the ECU will check for cetain condition (one of them is speed) to engage the VTEC, so if you fiddle with the signal going into the speedo, sometimes the side effect is that you won't get VTEC in 1st gear, because the the ECU thinks the car is not going fast enough.

when you guys get your apexi rsm installed, let me know how it turns out.
i think my speedo is off. my needle tops out at 110mph yet it feels insanely fast to actually be at 110mph. maybe the wheels have something to do with it?
i have a 91 with 17&18 volk GT-C
