The Climate Control Unit (CCU) in the original LoveFab 'shop' car was starting to get wonky, so we sent it off to BrianK for a rebuild.
Since the console was out (and it's Winter in the great white North) that presented an opportunity to upgrade the console.
The radio had long since been removed (car is all about speed) so I had made a small cover plate to hide the hole in the console, and the Accusump switch was also mounted there.

I looked around at the available consoles out there, and decided that I wanted to keep the ashtray door and OEM look but without the radio hole so had to go custom. I've never done this type of work, but thankfully fellow Primer cwood1388 has and offered to modify our old one to create what we wanted.
Out with the old........

Now that it's out, time to ship it to South Carolina for Chris to do his thing.

Once done, it was shipped back to MI to await some warmer weather for the install.........

I got another switch mounted to the shifter surround for the Accusump, and of course felt the need to install another Senna signature decal.........

I think it's a very nice upgrade, many thanks to Chris Wood for the superb work

Thanks guys!

I think Chris could be a very valuable asset to folks wanting something custom done in CF

We basically have a NSX-R console in Left hand drive now, so a unicorn I suppose. Having the 12V outlet still under the ashtray lid is great for GPS and other accessories.

Looks good.
One question bout the gauges wiring. Did you have to extend the wiring for those gauges to reach tne nav pod? Or were u able to use the original wiring without having to cut or resolder extend wires?

I want to move my gauges up there, just like that. Wideband and boost.
Thanks

Good question, Cody wired those gauges up when he built the beast, so I don't know how he did the wiring (didn't have to remove the pod to R&R the console).

It's kind of hard to get the CF to come out in close-ups, due to the glossy finish......but I'll give it a try.

Brian

one more question. do u have any more picture of the wiring behind the console? anything that shows with out the console installed.

maybe i can see what kind of wiring cody did to it..

Post some close up pics of the console.

While this may seem a bit biased, These are pictures I took for Brian's records. Bear in mind some of these pictures dont reflect the final piece. I am under the presumption that you were curious about weave distortion or small imperfections. I also suck at taking pictures.

Thanks Chris, it's really quite hard to photograph the carbon being so reflective it's difficult to illuminate properly.
Oh, and to me......any slight imperfections in the weave or whatever just shows that it's real carbon laid up by hand, not a printed vinyl wrap

Here are a couple more close-up shots of it installed.

(oh and sorry, no other pix of the wiring while it was out)

Just a bump to say that Chris' work on the console is holding up extremely well, and to show the upgraded AEM digital Boost and AFR gauges in the navpod.

We went with the silver trim rings, since the cluster gauges have the aluminum trim around them as well.

Oh, and as to the wiring of those AEM gauges.........Cody ran a hard copper line through the firewall that taps into the intake manifold for the boost gauge, and electrically both also only needed a switched hot lead and a ground to function.
