Lower perch on the Bilsteins

To get springs to ride on the "Lower Perch" on the Bilsteins, is that a matter of just sliding them down or do you need to maneuver that spring support plate to that spot? Do the OEM springs commonly fail around 100k? Planned on going OEM struts and Tein springs, but when I pulled the struts they they began leaking.

There is a spring circlip that needs to be snapped into which ever ride height groove (cut into the shock body) you choose......the perch just rests on that circlip.

Make sure to move the clip down and use the correct orientation of the perch as above. It's amazing how everything is held by that little clip.

Post-install IssuesPrime user mcano reported a problem with rubbing that nearly wore through the shoulder of a tire. Prime user ken sampson asked whether anyone ever shimmed in the rear shocks to gain more room for wider tires or made some type of spacer to do this. Prime user Zishan reported discussing this option with vendor Ross at STMPO and it appeared the hats could have been modified to move the strut inward maybe .5 to 1 inch but nothing panned out

You have to check the rear tire to perch clearence if you use wider than factory wheels and the lower spring perch. You can rotate the lower spring perch to gain some additional clearence, but grinding away a portion of the lower perch may also be required to gain additional room. Make sure you check this before your test drive, you can cut a tire on the perch quite quickly.
