Re: new shoes - volk le37t's (gun metal and gloss black)

...and these limited edition le37t in gloss black arrived for my 04 silver grey m3. fyi...for those who wanted to see what they look like. these wheels come with gold "volk racing - limited edition" decals, along with the usual black "volk racing" and "rays engineering" decals. note center cap (real cf) is different than those on the gun metal wheels above.

front: 19x8.5+30et (1.75" lip) w/ toyo t1-r 245/35/19
rear: 19x10.5+25et (2.75" lip) w/ toyo t1-r 275/30/19

How long of a wait? Rays is getting worse and worse on wait times as of late, due to their Infinity/Nissan/Nismo contract. I just found out that I can air freight them from Rays in a week or two, once built for an extra $400!!

Rays is ridiculous in wait time. My wheels have stickers stating manufacturing date of March and I just got them 3 weeks ago. I placed my order in end of September 2004 and there were a lot of issues about availability of offsets and colors. The order was finally confirmed in Jan 2005 so it took another 6 months for them to deliver my wheels.

the gloss black set took me 3 weeks. the gun metal set took 1 week since they were in stock in the states.

It took me about a week to get my Volk GT-7's in but they were in stock in Cali.

i'll be mounting them tonight on the m3 finally. the car is silver grey. i'll post pics once completed.

center-caps included...?

Awesome looking wheels, the finish is fabulous!

Does Rays' include the center-caps w/ the Volk LE37T's? Or did you have to pay extra for those?

Anyone know about Advan AVS wheels, if center caps have to be purchased separately?

Thanks.

Is is just me, or do those look reeeealy stretched?

yes, they are a bit stretched with 10.5 width and 275/30/19 tires. it's the best size for the m3 in order to fit perfectly inside the rear lip once the car is lowered. 285/30/19 tires will be the perfect size tire, BUT will rub for sure once lowered.

i just finished putting the stickers on, polished, glazed, and waxed the wheels. now going to mount them on the car and will post pics later. here's a preview with the stickies. i think it will look pretty hot.

Re: new shoes - volk le37t's (gun metal and gloss black)

Wow, fine choice of wheels. For wheels that big, there are not many better choices than the Volk Monoblocks and BBS forged wheels. The iForged or HRE are probably 10 lbs heavier.

Re: new shoes - volk le37t's (gun metal and gloss black)

Thats a great looking car and fantastic wheel choice, but I think it would have looked a little better if you had opted for a higher offset so you could have went with a better fitting tire on the rear. It kinda sticks out and the tire is really stretched. But dont get me wrong, I'd take it in a heartbeat, my wife drives a fake M3

Re: new shoes - volk le37t's (gun metal and gloss black)

thanks

actually most have done 22mm offset before. this time volk shipped the 25mm offset (moved wheel 3mm in). reason it looks like it sticks out is because the car is not yet lowered. once lowered about 1 to 1.5in the top of the wheel actually tucks under the lip very well.

other reason for not going higher on the offset is that on a 10.5in wheel the inside of edge the wheel may rub when lowered AND it won't clear bbks.

on the m3, 285/30/19 is the best size upgrade tire, almost 0% error. however, that size tire will rub the lip when lowered. 275/30/19 is used 95% of the time and won't rub. one other reason it looks stretched is because of the toyo T1-R tires themselves. they don't run as wide as an s03 in the same 275/30/19 size. toyos tend to run narrower than other brands.

once i lower the car with tein ssp coilovers i'll take more pics to show.

enjoy the pics!
