Thanks for all the resources here prime, and for everyones help and comments. I am now the proud owner of a red/blk 91 nsx with built motor and BBSC. I couldn't be happier. It way exceeded my expectations on power, needs a little work in the suspenion and brake area now. Well I flew into Atlanta Saturday monring and James (thanks again james for a great car) picked me up at the airport and I think I pulled a mucscle in my face from grinning :biggrin:so hard when he rolled up. We took care of business and I headed out on a 750 mile journey back to chicago. The first couple hundred miles were awesome. I could not help myself from laying into it when it was safe. It goes from 80-140 so fast, I was expecting it to be much slower. Then in Tennessee I got boxed in by some dumbass who thought it would be wise to carry gravel on the back of a flatbed trailer. Well 1 little window chip/crack and 10 or so little nicks later I got around him. I did not notice the chips at first due to the bugs or I would have got his plate. I shook that off and was having to much fun to really get upset and continued on to Indiana. Now here is where everything goes wrong. I decide to take it easy and call it a good run so far(indiana always has tons of cops out), sit back and relax, put on the cruise and listen to some music. Well that was my mistake. I was coming up to pass a sedan in the right lane, cruise at 78, and can't get over. Looking, looking and all of a sudden almost a whole semi-truck tire comes out from under the sedan, he rolls right overs it no problem. Me not having anywhere to go and being 5" off the ground hit this tire, must have been at least 75% of the tire which was at least 8"-10" high off the road. I am like f@#$#, Sh@#@, hoping it is not bad, I pull off at the next gas station, 3hrs outside Chicago. I see tons of water coming out from under the front and think I punctured the radiator or a hose. I jack up the car after I burn my hands because the jack is so hot. Lay in the dirty, oily gas station parking lot while like ten kids are asking me what it is and if its fast, then they give me all there semi truck tire stories. I am starting to think I am riding home with some weird tow truck driver for three hours but luckily it was the AC drian tube letting off water like it should. I am relieved but still see leakage towrds the back. Inspect further and find it barley dripping antifreeze and oil. I burned my hands again trying to get the (poorly designed) oil cap off.(why isn't the coolant tank 6" down so you can get the oil cap off?) Checked the oil level, quart down. Top it off, assume the leak is from the oil return line on the pan getting bashed or the oil filter. Coolant leak, either a pinhole prick in the hoses or the jolt shook coolant out the overflow on the BBSC coolant tank. Checked the level and it was OK. Not knowing what else might be wrong I limp it home at 3000rpms with my eyes fixed on the gauges. By the time I got home it was down another quart and still dripping. Well the damage so far is that my lip is gone, brake ducts?, windshield chipped, the lower valence needs replacing, fog lights smashed, dent in the drivers floorpan, oil leak, and dirty ass underbody now. I need to get someone to bring their car over so I car visually try to see if anything else is wrong. If enough is wrong I will make an insurance claim(1000 deduct). I am pretty sure the leaks I can fix pretty easy, its just I never looked under one of these I don't know what it is supposed to look like, therefore don't know what else is wrong. Yeah it sucks, but what can you do. Well I'm gonna fix it and drive the hell out of it and fix it again if needed. I couldn't drive it today(no plates yet) so a few buddies brought over their stage 2 STI's and we had a detail day. Washed, clay bared and waxed all three cars, and full detail. They all looked really nice at the end of the day. I'll put up a coulpe of pics but they do not reflex how good they really look. She's all clean now and I put to bed with her big brother. I might have to go out and check on her in a bit, just make sure it is really there. Well, I couldn't be happier and hope I never have to sell it. And so begins my next project car/obsession. Look for updates as I dump as much money as I possibly can into this already pretty awesome car. Oh yeah, I have car OCD and can't stop buying stuff until it has one of everthing, lol. Looking forward to meeting you chicago owners, I plan on joining in on events whenever I can. Finally, I have my NSX after 17yrs of waiting!

And that is one big hunk of text =]

Yeah, I guess now that I look at it, it is. I tend to ramble on when it is automotive related and no one if there to stop me from typing. lol

congrates on the ride, sorry for all the misfortune of your trip. Did you ever find out what was leaking when you guys detailed your cars. That is a large text but I actually could picture it in some ways. Hopefuly she's up or will be up and the damage obtained is to bad. Enjoy the ride. I hav talked to several other members and plenty of them have tire stories:wink:

This just happened to me in my Nissan 300ZX TT...and it really messed up my Stillen front fascia, cracked my oil filter, broke the undertray, and drove my lower radiator hardpipe into an engine pulley sooo hard that I had to replace the pipe!!!

Between deers and re-treads...its a jungle out there!

I posted some tips in the other topic you created, about following up on the damage to your car. (So now there are two people here who incurred car damage from loose truck tires in Indiana. :frown: )

It's normal for water to drain from the A/C. Since you apparently work on cars, I'm sure you can tell the visual difference between water (clear and thin), coolant (colored green or orange), and oil (oily).

You need to check your oil level frequently enough to make sure it doesn't get too low. A quart down is low and if you let it get much lower than that, you could incur expensive damage to your engine.

Congrats on the acquisition - enjoy it!

P.S. Barley is good in soup...

Hey James and I talked a couple of times about this car...But his price was firm ... I live in Atlanta, . Ironic...I bought my Red NSX from Chicago....

Great Car.......Congrats....

Wow,

I was going to say the car was sold and hope you enjoy the ride home. I am sorry to hear that your trip back was less than blissful.

I got lucky last year. A semi kicked up a shredded tire but because the car is lowered it cleared the top of the roof by about an inch. I guess one mans luck is anothers misfortune.

did you lose the brake deflectors?

Ahh the old blitz type 03:smile: Deep lip, tough to keep pristine:frown:

Congrats bro. Sucks about the damage, but it'll be fine. no worries.

I must have missed you.

I was driving up to Michigan (via Chicago) to drop my NSX off at LoveFab with Cody.

I am glad you are enjoying the NSX from James. Now he has the money to take all of us out for that steak dinner he promised us in 2006!

Enjoy and be safe.

Going to change the oil tonight and check things out. I got the bumper back on for the most part but missing that tow hook cover. Still cracked and plan on replacing it though. Brake cooling ducts were just bent, easy fix. Boy those are made from pretty thick aluminum, couldn't do it by hand. I checked the oil every half hour or so and it never got down below 1/2 quart low after the first time I added 1 quart. Can't imagine it did any damage as I I pulled off right away and it was just driping. I haven't driven it since I got home. The coolant tank was almost empty when I checked today so I am hoping there is just a small puncture it the line to it or something else easy to fix. Going to try to get this all figured out toningt. I have to go to my friends to use his ramps and race jack as I just found out my jack will not fit even with the platform off. I'll shut up now and post up what I find later. Yeah, the wheels are a bitch to clean and I have three broken finger nails to prove it.

nice! another chitown nsx owner! we are growing pretty quickly!

where did you find this car? prime or ebay? looks familiar

-I gave him a huge stack of hundreds for the car so hit him upn soon before he goes to the casino or srtip club. I almost bought codys 95 until he blew the clutch up, looks like the diff just went too, lucky me. I want a turbo too!!! Baby asleep, time to go to work.

Yea those wheels are the sux0r to clean. The best way I have found to clean them is I bought a second wash mit just for the wheels. That way you can use your hand to grab a-hold of the spokes. For the areas between the top of the spokes and the inner rim I bought a bunch of those cheap sponge brushes with the wooden handles from home depot. They break fairly regularly but there pretty cheap a buck or two a piece and they work really well. The last thing use an old terry cloth towel. Use it like you would buff out a pair of shoes. This will allow you to get behind the spokes into the tight places.
