Misfiring#2 Cyl

Engine check light came on today, My nsx has been sputtering as if there is moisture in the feul. The simptom seems to come and go with no definate pattern.This occurs only at low rpm,for instance when I accelerate from a stop in first gear it sputters only breifly until the rpm's reach 2000 or so.Then again in the first part of 2nd gear.This condition has worsened today instead of just going away,Keep in mind the oil pressure ,temp ,and volts are normal. So I pulled into my local acura dealer (St Louis Acura)and these service guys treated me like a king, i.e. friendly, urgent to diagnose the prob, free( 2004 TL loaded ) loaner car.They said that the computer gave a code signaling a misfire in the #2 cylinder!! I'm waiting now until tuesday to find out the diagnosis, need i worry?should I,:eek: or:cool: :confused:
 
I am thinking this is an OBDII car (1995+). It can be one of three things:

Spark Plug
Coil
Igniter

You can easily swap the coil and spark plug, but will need to replace the igniter to find out if it is bad. I f you change the spark plug and coil and the symptom does not move you need an igniter.

I will bet dollars to donuts it is one of the coil packs

Yeh - gypsys in the castle tend to treat you right while you are standing there

Great news! Good job on the description - sounded like a coil pack for sure.

BTW - where did you go to fix it (St. Louis Acura)?

Also - how did you get them to cover it under warranty (95 right?)

Why 95-97 and not all of them?

Part of the EPA suit against Honda with OBDII and lack of long term Oxygen sensor function. Any thing related to emissions becomes part of the extended warranty.

Apparently Honda corrected the problem to the Gov's satisfaction with the newer models.
