Magnesium was OEM.

A set of Ti valve covers will probably set you back $50k-$100k.

my mistake. i meant magnesium

these need to be stripped or soda blasted. they have zero damage but the original owner started to strip and gave up. most of the paint is gone and the rest is just flaking off. i was going to do the same thing you are but after reading of problems other owners had with holes being plugged or made smaller due to not taking care and sealing holes, i gave up.
