NBA Playoff thread

Hello Guys. IMHO the NBA playoffs start this wknd. Sorry - but I don't ever play attention to the 1st or 2nd round. This isn't the NHL. The 8th seed isn't going anywhere. Heck the Dallas Mavericks collapsed in the 1st round and they were the 2nd seed.

Boston Vs. Orlando. Old school vs. kids. I personally think Orlando is more talented BUT Boston has Rondo, Pierce and ofcourse Red/Larry/Russell. They are the more likely favorities. Orlando has cruised through the playoffs and I think this series will test Orlando's character. Celtics are thrilled to beat Lebron but have to now focus on Orlando. While Van Gundy has been waiting for this. I think Orlando can pull it off.

LA Vs. Phoenix. Well as much as I would like to see Nash go to the finals - It isn't going to happen. Somehow Gasol and the rest of LA's mediocore team pull together to help Kobe pull off the wins. I am rooting for Phoenix but realistically expect LA to go to the finals.

When Boston came together with the additions of KG and Ray Allen, every expert on ESPN picked LA to win the series, and they lost in 5.

Last series 17 of 17 "experts" picked Cleveland, and they lost to Boston in 6.

Now all but two of their "experts" are picking Orlando, so Boston is a HEAVY underdog.

If we make it past Orlando, still all the experts will pick LA.

The reason we lost in 09 but still took Orlando to a 7th game, was that Garnett tore up his knee and sat on the side for the playoffs. He was still not 100% during the season this year, but is starting to look like his old self again.

I don't get the lack of respect for Boston. Even if I lived elsewhere, I would still root for Boston. 3 guys that have paid their dues, played hard their whole careers, are professional about what they do, sacrificed everything to win together. They are in the twilight of their careers, and another win for them would be fantastic. They don't sell records, they don't have recruiting companies, they aren't in the news every other day because of some knucklehead move they did.

Everyone says Ray Allen is washed up, KG is washed up, and Pierce is washed up. I guess we will see.

You do realize what we did to you last time we met, right? the only reason you won last year was because KG was sitting on the bench in a suit.

Actually the Big 3 are not who I would worry about. I think Rondo would have a better series against the Lakers than anyone else on their roster. KG, PP, and RA being washed up is true but they bring a lot of veteran leadership and that's more important than having star players at their best sometimes. Who else but KG can make Big Baby cry?

I respect the team....rondo is a great player with 3 others players that can catch fire or add some intangibles.....don't forget Paul Pierce is from Inglewood, CALIFORNIA :smile:

Doesn't mean we have to like them......hehehe......this is a fun rivalery......

Like I said...I rather see Boston and LA get it on then LA and Orlando again.

On Paper it would seem that Boston has an offensive advantage but we'll see.

It will be a good match up regardless.....we are going to have to stick shannon brown or farmer on rondo.
