NSX worthy facility in or around Los Angeles...

Having bought my NSX up in the Bay area, and having found out that almost all the normal maintanance and mod work had been done by "Foreign Affair" rather than the Acura dealership (Foreign Affair kept meticulous records, and seems to have done superior work), I'm trying to find a similar NSX specialist that I can depend on near the NSX's new home in SoCal.

The closer to Hollywood or the San Fernando valley, the better.

Any suggestions?

There are great shops down in OC. You can find a ton of threads about the shops down there. However, it is a bit of a drive and when I have to get the car serviced in SFV, I go to Keyes Acura. Check out the pix of their dealership in my gallery. They have a great underground and air conditioned facility. Talk to Josh Jacob to get scheduled in...

Hey, that's my garage!

In my dreams.

Anyway, thanks for the tip. How are they with dealing with modded NSX's? Knowlegeable about CTSC related stuff?

They have at least one NSX trained tech there. I've seen supercharged cars there but I cannot comment on whether it's better or worse service wise compared to other shops. Josh is a great guy to work with and he'll be glad to talk with you about that.

hmm im also interested in this... I have heard about AutoWave but have not talked to them since they are so far away from me...

I'm collecting a bunch of parts that will need to be installed and was going to be looking around for someone to install them......

I've had my oil changed at Glendale Acura but they broke my engine hatch release so I doubt i'll be going back there.

Re: You could try Pacc Auto in Valencia

We used to let Pacc Auto look after the major stuff on our 91 NSX. They're up in the Santa Clarita Valley off Soledad Canyon near Valencia Town Center. They're Acura specialists and seem to like to work on the exotic models.

I live in Las Vegas and I take my NSX to Autowave in Huntington Beach. Jon Martin (also in OC) is an excellent choice as well.

Regards,

Danny

Here's my experience with Keyes Acura and "Josh".

2 days after receiving my 2002 NSX, I make an appointment with Keyes to take my NSX in for an alignment and oil change. "Josh" tells me that he is the NSX specialist and he loves them so much he is going to buy one someday.

I arrive at the appointed time and…
1) waited for 2 hours before they even started on my car.
2) Another hour later, I ask "Josh" if they’ve changed the oil yet? He replys, "Yes!"
3) 45 minutes later, "Josh" comes up to me and says they can't align my car to specs. So, I walk out to the Tech to ask what the problem is. The Tech looks at me like, "What?" (Apparently, there was no problem.)
4) So, as I turn around to walk out of the shop, I look at the oil filter… and it's dirty. So I ask "Josh", "Are you sure they changed the oil?... the filter is dirty!" He yells across the shop area to another Tech and asks, "Hey, did you change the Oil on this NSX?" The Tech replies, "What... did you want the oil changed, too?"
5) When the bill came, I noticed that "Josh" had charged $250 for the alignment. That's like double what it should cost. (Even a rip-off dealership like Acura 101West only charges $125.)

After all that, I couldn't help myself… I told "Josh" that, "If he didn't know for sure if the oil had been changed, he should have found out before answering the question." I added, "I almost drive out of here and paid for an oil change that I didn't get, plus, what's worse, I could have put extra mileage on a $30,000 NSX motor in need of an oil change."

After talking with the service manager, they changed the alignment from $250 to $125 and gave me a coupon for a free oil change on my next visit.

I haven't been back… and don't plan on ever going back.

Recommendation: DO NOT take your car to Keyes Acura. GO TO AUTOWAVE in Huntington Beach for service. If you're in the SFV and all you need is a simple oil change, go to Automotive Instincts (8602 Lindley Ave. in Northridge.)

I'm going to forward your story over to one of the guys there so they can at least work on these service issues. I know of some horror stories with some of the other shops being mentioned in this thread so no shop is perfect. It's how they react to these problems and prevent future issues from happening that makes them better.

Jon Martin at Cerritos Acura

Based on my experience with local Socal dealers (not bad, but limited NSX experience), I would go to AutoWave, where per my posting yesterday, I received great attention and excellent knowledgable service at a very fair price.

Sweet! I live in the SCV actually, so that might work very well for me. It would be far more convenient than any place near work or farther South.

Thanks for the input everyone.

There's also Speed Oracle Performance Garage www.speedoracle.com in your SCV area owned and operated by Prime member RON98. Check out this thread when a bunch of us went to his shop for dyno pulls last Feb. Just more options for you.
You should also attend the Valencia Starbucks meets every other Wed. if you can. Great NSX and S2000 people.

Shoreline Motoring in Huntington has been pretty good to me so far. I hear great things about autowave, but have never been there.

AUTOWAVE is excellent.

To Irusdog in SCV

I've been going to Valencia Acura for years. In fact, they inspected my 92 before I bought it. Danny is a certified NSX tech and always does a good job. I asked for and get a regular discount on all my service. Ask for Mike in service and let me know what you think.

I may be checking them out sooner than I thought. Suddenly this morning my clutch pedal dropped to within two inches of the floor. Looks like I may need to have the master & slave cylinders replaced.
