Toyota has confirmed that the Lexus LF-A will campaign in the 24 hour Nurburgring race this May in an effort to shake down the new supercar before its launch next year. Toyota has no intentions of winning the grueling enduro, instead, it's using its unconventional entrant into the race to aid development of the super coupe and gain feedback for the production car.

The LF-A was recently spied making laps around the 'Ring outfitted with a new GT-style wing, bigger wheels, brakes, a revised aero kit, more carbon fiber and a full roll cage -- all of which confirms that the mule is more than just a production prototype. It's an impressive tactic that shows Toyota is serious about its first entrant into the supercar fray, and proves that the Nissan GT-R might be causing serious bouts of panic around Toyota HQ.

It has its work cut out for it. Whether it will 'beat' the GTR's performance is still up in the air, whether it can do it for the same money is not. My guess is roughly comparable figures to the GTR except 0-60 where it will lack, and top speed where it will shine. It doesn't look or sound slow, that much is for sure.

Why is it when I see the proto type on the track I think wow...but when I see the LF-A concepts at the show i think...meh...

I mean its not bad....but the proto types on the track look much meaner and id take that anyday over the over luxed concepts doing the rounds on the auto show scene...

Sounds nice btw...

Wow, the round tail lights look a lot better than the "bar" ones on the concept.

I hope they keep that style a la Supra. Actually, this one reminds me a little more of the Rx7.

not interested on the Lexus LF-A

you can now get one for under 20 grand

I hope they keep the new upper scoop style. I never liked that one that protruded forward behind the b-pillar. The black version looks waaaayyyy better. Mind you, I think it has a widebody kit, too.

I suggest you don't spend any of that $120k you save on Lasik if you still want that Hyundai of yours to look like the LF-A.

Because these cars are at home on a track, not in a convention center.

Clearly!! (pun intended)

The LF-A will be raced in the 24 hrs of the Ring, not to compete but for endurance tests.....

but i'll pass on the Hyundai awell not my cup of tea. just wanted to bring up the body similarity of both cars.

I'll Spend my $120K (if i have any) on hopefully the next NSX if there will be one

Saturday i saw a WHITE R8, WHOA x 3000000 ... and it's quick, see, there's a portion on the road after downtown Miami (I-95 South) that normally NO ONE can do it fast due the curve angle unless you drive a real car (or real driver?) and i saw that R8 fly there SO FAST and SOOOOO stable that i think my heart now belongs to a R8 ... oh boy, PLEASE Honda, we need a real sportscar AGAIN made by "Honda" .... i was doing that curve sooo fast and yet that R8 was GLUED and FASTER that me and my poor S2k (and i was flooring all the way in) .... such NICE car that R8 was .... so clean, so exotic, so like the NSX, so perfect and not OVER the top .. just like the NSX was ...

Dude, there are few companies out there that have ever achieved/produced the greatest engine/exhaust sound EVER in the history of Automobile. Do you ever watch F1, INDY, LeMans or JGTC? Powered by Honda?

This is my favorite of them all!!!

What is Honda supposed to listen for? So they can make their car sound like a Toyota? Which from this clip, sound like a NSX with a louder GT-One exhaust ???

Insane sound is good on the track but it becomes noise pollution to cops on the road. A stealthy supercar is the way to go.
