I am considering a Pontiac G8 GXP for a daily driver, Corvette motor 6 speed trans, the things haul ass. Getting rare to find for sale though. Anyone on Prime have one or experienced this ride? Easy to modify too and take to the drag strip for a family outing!!

A lot of performance for the $$$. Probably the best Pontiac ever built (the Fiero GT was on my want list). That said, it's still a Pontiac. Sad that GM was finally starting to build a few interesting cars when bankruptcy hit and killed Pontiac. Who ever would've thunk?
Happy Motoring!

They look like great cars, and I have an Aussie friend who is a big Holden fan pushing me toward one. I am watching the used market on these. I will probably be replacing my TL next year and I am very tempted by the CTS-V, the G8 GXP, and the Audi S4. The Audi currently ahead by a nose due to AWD.

The new TL just doesn't do it for me, but if a certain 2006 RL becomes available I might be swayed in that direction...

I guess I'm the resident expert ( even though I have the GTO and no G8 GXP).

There are only 1000 GXP manual 6-speed made for the USA. They hold their value better than a NSX due to this fact. It's like trying to find a Zanardi or name that rare and desired NSX.

I know one guy locally that bought a white GXP stick for $37k when Pontiac was still around and the new cars were moving slow and after 30k miles and 2 years later he sold it for $36k.

And yes, they look way sexy.

Just look at the OEM body kits that you can get from Australia (I'm sure they want to stimulate the economy after the epic Noah's floods).

Thanks for the info, I have three kids, and my own business, it would be nice to have a sedan of some type to tool around in. I think Chevrolet is going to release a new impala based on this same platform, at least for police cars. I would like to see some ricer in a Subaru try to outrun one of those. I have been reading negative comments about the Caddy CTS rearend failing, one guy replaced three in one year under warranty. The caddy is not worth the 15k difference in price either. The Holden models look bad ass, the G8 parts and Holdens interchange. You drop a turbo or supercharger in one of these and you have a Z06 killer in sheeps clothing.....

Magnacharger sells the same blower that comes in the Zr-1 for the G8 ( and camaro too).

Just imagine having ZR-1 or more power.

Very fun cars.

Thanks for info, alot of fun for not alot of cash, compared to other sedans available. I hope GM brings out a new model. Since they killed Pontiac, maybe it could come back as a buick? They have not had anything since the GNX.

It's suppose to return as a Caprice with a longer wheel base.

All those body kits u see above should bolt right on.

I might just wait for this if and when I have a need to carry passengers that demands 2 more doors. 'Til then the GTO will suffice.

When I was in China they were sold as Buick Park Avenue.

I considered getting a G8 GT when Pontiac was going belly-up in 2008. There are so many aftermarket parts and you can pretty muchg make it look like a Holden with all of the badges and CF interior pieces. I negotiated a great deal on a 6spd Slate Blue with two tone leather interior, fully loaded with NAV and sunroof, for..........$23,700 out the door. It was such a good deal, but I knew that I probably couldn't see myself keeping that car for more than 1.5 just because it was a Pontiac.

Damn Batman, you are like your own Google search engine of info!!

Damn it!!!! That would have been sooooo cool!!!! I drove a 1969 GTO in high school.....I could have made a "retro Judge" model out of that........

Needs ram air hood and hood tach.....man that would have been GR8

Holden is sex on a stick. I considered buying the G8 and doing the brand swap but figured I would buy one used after someone else does the work for me.

The GTO replacement above gives me a chubby and yet makes me cry at the same time due to unavailability. Batman, doesn't Holden also produce AWD versions? The 4 feet of snow outside my door also pushes me towards Audi.

This was suppose to be the next GTO replacement:

Would be nice if the front bumper facia was available for the G8.

Way better looking inside and out than the Bumblebee car from Chevy with it's 70's style interior, shame that GM just wanted to appeal to the Old School crowd. The Holden (gto) should have survived in one form or another.

If that coupe excites you guys the cts-V coupe is pretty close in look and is quite quick.

Here is a Car and Driver article about the Chevy/Holden Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle that should hit the streets later this year...

http://www.caranddriver.com/news/car/09q4/2011_chevrolet_caprice_ppv-car_news

However according to this article and other sources I have read this particular vehicle will NOT be made available to the public. The good news is that I read elsewhere that the same basic vehicle will be offered by Chevy but with a new model name and that a high performance option may eventually be available as well.

For more on the rumors surrounding Chevy and the Holden Commodore, click this link...

...well then just add some gruppe m fender flairs:tongue:

I see a picture of the Holden Coupe 60 concept and I see a progressive musclecar. Here is a car that has a euro style to it, while still possessing the musclecar ethos so many people love. Then I see cars like the current Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger which all capitalize on a "retro" styling and it makes me wonder where do they take the cars from there?

I love old mustangs, I really do- and I like the 2011 Mustang as well (I do not like the Camaro or the Challenger- too bloated)- but if GM brought out a car that looked like the Holden Coupe 60 and priced it similarly to the Mustang there would be no question I'd be looking to spend my money with their dealers.

The G8 was a great looking new car- it was possibly the best looking new car that a performance minded consumer with a need for a sedan and a 40k budget could get- but GM killed it. There was talk of carrying it over to another brand, but GM absolutely Squashed that hope.

And why? They couldn't sell them?

wouldn't you at least look at a product line if the cars looked like THIS

I would have.

Unfortunately the G8 was victimized by GM pandering to a government bailout which demanded hybrid, and alternative fuel vehicles. 2 years later we have a Volt that underwhelms.

sad really.
