Question on Rear lights

I recently purchased an 05 nsx and after driving it for a short period of time my rear tail lights including the spoiler light remain even when the engine is completely off, key is out of the ignition and all the light switches are turned off. I recently had the car in for emissions and thought maybe someone moved something under the dash while trying to connect the OBD for testing but then thats probably highly unlikely.

The only way for me to turn off the rear light/tail light off is to either pull the 20Amp fuse for rear break light or disconnect the battery.

Any suggestions where I could start looking before I can get the car to the shop would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

The spoiler lights are your 3rd brake light, so presumably your brake and not tail lights are stuck on. A very typical and likely cause is the little plastic button on your brake pedal that depresses the brake light switch has gone bad.
An easy fix, Honda sells the replacement button for like $5 and for the brake pedal, it is a fairly easy repair. You might have to remove the knee bolster to replace, but it is easy

If not that, next would be the switch itself.

Thank you. And doing a search based on your reply also led me to find that stopper.

I appreciate the quick response.

Thanks to all who have posted on this issue. Yep, happened today while away from home:

One bit of whitish "nylon" washer first noticed. It started and drove, however NO cruise control ?

Got home and three more pieces were on the carpet in driver's footwell. After shutting off, went to back of 2005 NSX w/ 51.6 K miles and:

Scurried upstairs. Fired up 'puter. Searched Prime! Yep, sure enough.

So grabbed my owner's manual to find where this 20 amp fuse for tail/brake lights was. Under front hood. Fuse # 19. Photo is presented looking towards rear of front compartment, at bottom of the well-used fishing bobber. I pulled it, parked it, and will order a couple of these $2.88 parts ASAP.

Again, thanks to all Primers for their contributions on this issue.

These forums are great no doubt. When mine happened it was literally on the first day I could drive it after getting tags and license. Given I was so unfamiliar with everything about the car, If it wasn't for these forums I would have waited and taken it back to the shop not having a clue what caused it. Glad you fixed it :applouse:
