Retractable Headlight Problem - Wont go down, sometimes.

A few weeks ago, I had my headlights on during a funeral procession. At the end of the "parade", my headlights would go down. Granted, it was the first REALLY hot day of the year and I thought it had something to do with the weather, especially since the problem went away the following morning.

Recently, my headlights still wont retract if I shut off my headlights. I can get them to close by playing with the retractor switch. What I mean about playing with the switch is when I push the button totally, nothing happens. But when I go to balance the switch right in the middle, I get movement from the headlights. I do this a few times in a row to retract the lights all they way.

Its a pretty safe bet to say the retractor switch is bad, but Id like to get your opinions before I purchase a special order / non returnable $150.00 switch.

Consult your doctor if your headlights stay up for more than 4 hours.

Are you talking about the switch on the dash? I don't know for sure but i would think for the normal operation of the light's (up/down) the signal wouldn't go through that switch. Maybe it's a relay problem.

Test for the switch is page 1167
Test for the retractable headlight control unit is page 1160.
