One of these days I'll read the directions with my camera and learn how to take pictures in artificial lighting. A tripod would have been helpful...

Funkmaster Flex...

I didn't actually enter the show - was there just to hang out (I'm friends with the organizers), promote my wife's business and network with some of the other vendors. Only other X was an old yellow one outside with WeaponR seat harnesses and a chrome fire extinguisher bolted to the center console.

Nice Blue NSX... Is that Flex?

Nice Blue NSX... Do they still make it with a black top??? (Automatic?) Is that Funk Master Flex? Cool! :D

Too funny!

I think he painted his top black.

That funkmaster flex cracks me up. He doesn't know crap about cars. I would imagine most people have no idea who he even is. I have watched his terrible show a few times and I still have no idea who he is.

As far as I know, the only way to get a black roof on a new one is to get an NSX-R. For ours, the roof is wrapped with black cast vinyl - high gloss, looks like paint, but is removable. The car's got a manual transmission (6PSI CTSC, CT I/E).

The second show this summer is part of the "Funkmaster Flex Celebrity Car Show" tour - I guess he was there just to put in an appearance. I needed the shot for some handouts I'm designing for the organizers to promote the next event.

So that is an 02 NSX with mods, and not at pre-'02 with a headlights mod + other changes. i checked your user profile, but you've got no details about your NSX.

photo tip: when taking photos in low light, make sure the shutter speed isn't too low (1/15th or lower) or if it is use flash. if you have the flash turned off, some cameras will reduce the shutter speed to gain sufficient light.
If you are forced to shoot in low light, without flash when taking the shot (w/o flash can look better anyhow), stand in a firm stance but be comfortable (ie. legs apart, putting your weight more on one side). Tuck your elbows to your side. Take a breath IN and hold your breath while you take the shot. All these reduce handshake and movement, which results in sharper photos.

If there's a wall nearby, leaning against that helps too. a tripod/monopod is ideal, but not always practical at carshows.

Not using a zoom in low light helps too. there's a photographic rule that states if you want a sharp photo, try to keep the shutter speed near or above the focal length. [ie. a 1/30th on 35mm lens, 1/60th on a 50mm lens, 1/250th on a 200mm lens] hope you can see the pattern there. this is a randy rule-of-thumb to follow.

hope these simple, practical tips help.

Great photo tips! BTW - if you are looking for a small, well built, and high quality 3MP camera with full 640x480 movie mode and sound you might like the one I have - a Nikon Coolpix 3700. Came out last December and it has a scene mode with different typical settings (sunset, backlit, dusk, sports, etc) and automatically adjusts shutter speed, flash, etc. For low light scenes (or when setting manually) it actually has a little hand in red telling you not to take the picture until you hold the camera still. When you are still - the hand goes away. Very usefull!

Anyway - I have had many prosumer digitals and this is my new favorite for size (I wear it on my belt like a pager), price, quality, features, and flexibility.

Sorry - didn't edit my profile, it was in my sig... it's an '04; we purchased it about 4 months ago.

Thanks for the tips - we've got a Canon Powershot G5 and I swear the camera just overwhelms me sometimes - our deceased Nikon Coolpix 950 was so much easier to use. I swore after taking such crap pictures that I'd read the directions before the next show. :)

if you don't mind me asking; what kind of wheels are those on yoru car? are they the volk SF challenge?

100% correct - They're SF-Challenges in Mercury Silver, 18x8F, 19x9.5R. The car needs to be lowered less than an inch, then the stance should be proper. Surprisingly, the ride quality didn't change much, but we've got decent roads around here.

what are the offsets of your front wheels? and do you know if they're going to be able to clear BBK's. how big of a lip is on the front?

sorry to ask so much technical questions. but i have a widebody NSX that's near completion and i am preordering a set of widebody spec wheels from mackin. (18x8F, and 19x10.5R). the rear we have it dialed in at a +15 offset, which should get me around a 4.5" lip approx. but they are telling me for the front, to run a +21 offset, which should only give me maybe a 2.25" lip or so (and should clear any BBK without problems). any suggestions?

The fronts were +34, the rears were +36. They should clear the BrakeZone/Wilwood BBK we're going to go with (it's still in the design phase). It looks like the front lip is only around 1 inch.

My wife (www.decalgirl.com) can sell the vinyl - I'd have to figure out how much I used. It's not too bad if you clean it well and have patience while putting it on.
