I am thinking of this set up for my 91. Anyone have this set up?
I am looking for performance over bling. Any suggestions or concerns?

SSR Competition

17x7.5 Front, +42mm, 13.6 lbs
17x9.5 Rear, +42mm, 15.9 lbs

Tires: Bridgestone S-03’s or Michelin Pilot sport

Front: 215/40YR17
Rear: 245/40YR17

I would mount an 255/40 in the rear on 9.5inch wide rim. You can get NSX-R tires (Potenza RE070) in this dimension. Cause this rubber was developed for the NSX-R and is available in 215/40/17 and 255/40/17

So would I.

Not in the United States, you can't. But you can get the OEM tires that are used on the 2002-2005 NSX-T in these sizes (215/40-17 and 255/40-17), which are the Bridgestone Potenza RE040. They're an excellent choice.

I have a '91 with the SSR Comps, and the 255/40/17's in the back. This does cause the TCS light to flash occasionally on hard acceleration. My tires are Yokohama AVS ES100's. I don't know if they contribute to this problem or not.

Any TCS flashing with the Rear: 245/40YR17?

I believe that size keeps the ratio the same as the '91 TCS expects. Someone else can probably tell you for sure.

One of these days I'm going to build my TCS remapper....

on 1991 modells the difference between front and rear tire diameter is 45mm. The diff between 215/40/17 and 245/40/17 is smaller than with 215/40/17 and 255/40/17. The 255 in the rear would match better for the 1991 modell, but it is not near 45mm diameter difference, it is 32mm difference.

Michael, you have seen my car at PR, I do run 17/17 in everyday driving. I have 17*8 front with 215/40 and 17*9.5 with 255/40... Even with that I noticed it triggered the TCS more when the tires are wearing at the back, now with my TeinRA suspension, I will trigger TCS at every road irregulars, ie: metal joints on I-5, or crossing a railroad track... It's not really a big deal for me since I learnt to drive my car without TCS anyway. :)
Just want to let you know what I experienced, and like everyone suggesting here, the 245/40 tires could be even worst.

I thought the 91 has 15/16? I would think that using 17/17 would probably throw that way off.

These are ultra light rims, if you go with 16/17 set up, you can trim a little bit more weight.

You can save additional 4~5lbs per tire with Toyo proxy T1-S, they are insanely light, when comparing them side to side, the weight difference sure felt more than 5lbs per tire.

I just replaced my rears with T1-S, unfortunately fronts are on back order, I will receive them in a few weeks.
