I have a STMPO bar that decided to install a couple days ago but I noticed a gap in between the bar and chassis of the car from the driver side. Its a few mm gap compared to the passenger side. I haven't put my front bumper back, im wanna make sure if this normal or not before I put everything back together. Do I have to cut the plastics cover behind the bumper or I can run the car without it?

My stmpo bar fit so tight that it was hard to install.

Has your car been in any type of accident that would change or alter anything?

Ditto, Ross made these to close tolerances... mine was a tight fit too

Just went out to the garage and measured it exactly 28 1/2 inches outside to outside

There is a thread here about making the plastics cut, super simple to do with the bumper off the car and a dremel

I just took some more pictures and saw that the driver side shows some sort of a gap from frame. My car hasn't been in any accident so I don't know what could it be, im trying to be paranoid I just wanted to make sure this is not something bad. I measured the bar and its 28' 1/2 long. I add some more pictures from underneath. Thanks for the input, Nico.

Mine was very tight too. Add a spacer.

+1 to what Turbo said...

With the bumper off its a fine time to slap in a new radiator and stoneguard

Mine had a little gap similar to yours. When doing my research I read that it was common due to the tolerance in the chassis rails. Take it FWIW.

I used some washers from the hardware store. No issues.

Ditto for my 95 as well, I cut and drilled a matching shim from 1/8" aluminum plate and it fit perfectly.

After I installed the bar I found myself having some problems trying to install the front bumper back in place. Is there any specific way to put the bolts should I start front the center and finishing on the sides or viceversa??

Are you sure it wasn't in an accident?
What's this weld at the bottom lefthand side of the picture? Doesn't look factory to me...
