Structural damage to a 91 NSX coupe

I am looking for another car and yes i did search before posting. im not a total noob.

anyway here are some pictures of the car.
this car is on autotrader if u care to look.
This car is not mine im just looking at it as a possible buy

what are your estimates of the repair in body alone?

probably looking at an entire front clip replacement, so you'd have to find a donar car. Probalby 10k+ in work to get that car back to drivable shape

All it needs is a fender, hood, windshield, headlight, some other nick-nacks and someway to bolt a wheel onto it. No biggie unless you want to drive it. :biggrin: All kidding aside, you are looking at $15k-$20k to get it back together, but it will never be road worthy.

WTF THATS MY OLD CAR!! so saddd, insurance repair est was 22k, collision pushed the front firewall in a tad. Hmmn are you the guy that bought it and are trolling for buyers. You could get your money back on parting the engine/tranny alone as its totally rebuilt and has a new clutch. Put that in your ad, Evil Troll!! just kidding i'm worked up seeing my old baby here good luck selling it.

If you can't answer that question yourself, you shouldn't be buying the car.

Chances are approximately 100 percent that the seller already found out how much it would cost, and concluded that it's not worth spending the money to fix.

no i have not purchased the car. i saw the ad on autotrader for 11k. for it's condition i don't think the car is worth that. maybe half that.

nsxtasy: i posted my question here because this is an NSX forum. i did not ask body shops about the car because i wanted this forums knowledge before hand. now that i know how much the car would cost to put back on the road i will not buy it.

No worries buddy, give it a little time. These cars are aluminum and indestructible (unless you hit another solid), so they aren't going anywhere. Pick up a nice clean one when you're ready -- you won't regret it. No one does.

That looks like a ton of damage. To be honest it is too much, I would move on. Even if all that could be repaired, think it would drive striaght? I seriously would consider another NSX maybe with high mileage and is more affordable. You don't want this kind of headache. Even when body shops can repair this kind of stuff the cars are never the same. Please take this advice, that NSX is a nightmare. Some damage is ok and is repairable but this NSX should be parted out and laid to rest.

Please, what do you mean by "never the same". What would you anticipate would not to be the same? Please be specific.

I'm not interested in trying to change your mind and I will I not offer a rebuttal to your answer. It's just that I've been in collision repair for close to 40 years and it is helpful to understand why and what people mean when they say this.

Last month I was at the Ferrari bodyshop saw a six month old Ferrari F430 with more or less the same kind of damage.
And YES, it was there to be repaird. Estimated repair cost: 100.000 Euro.

To be honest, the front chassis bars on the NSX are extremely strong, but they are also welded to the monocoque in the factory. So, theoretically, a good bodyshop highly skilled in aluminum work, could duplicate what has been done also in the Toichigi factory.
However, you will need all the right parts to begin with and those are not cheap.
And it will not be cheap, I don't think you could do it for 20K US$. So, I think, in this case, the effort would not be worth it.

I had went through two Z32. Now I have a nsx after other cars besides from the Z. I love it.

haha cool. i decided to buy another Z32 and turn it into a luxury daily driver.
it's a 2+2. it'll take about a month before i have the money to do so, but it'll be worth it.

a nice head unit with sub's (hidden in the stock locations of course)

the car should look like that almost, except with a front lip on it.
