I installed a new exhaust on my 97 and love it.

I used a 5x8x18 Magnaflow muffler (it's dual in, dual out, with 2.5" connections.) We used 2.5" stainless pipe with full custom mandrel bends to build it. The part number is 14468.

It is quite a bit lighter than stock (haven't weighed it yet), and sounds great.

When you are in the car, it is really not much louder than my car was in stock mode with the top on (although my Downforce intake did contribute a lot of sound already). At cruising speed, you can barely hear it until you stomp on it. Then, you hear this wonderful intake-type sound from all around you, but not annoyingly loud.

With the top off, it is easier to hear, but still not too loud.

There IS a drone from 1900 rpm to 2500 rpm, but I am barely ever in that range so it is not a problem.

A picture (before polishing) is below, as well as a video comparing the stock sound with the new pipe.

Great video editing :)

Got a clip of droning? I still don't know what it suppose to sound like...maybe people have different definations of droning?

I haven't recorded it yet .. in fact, it might even be difficult to record.

It's really more of a resonance ... the exhaust note will gradually climb as you would expect, but at this particular rpm range, it gets just a bit louder than you would expect it to be, and then quiets down again as it leaves the range.

The droning fills the cabin more than the regular note ... as if you were humming or singing in the shower and you get the resonance from all around you.

The only time I am ever in that rpm range is while I cruise in/out of my neighborhood, slowly, about 25 mph, in 2nd gear.

Obviously, I don't need to be in 2nd gear at 25 mph, so I could avoid it if I wanted to, but it's not a horrible issue.

Now, if you're into boulevard cruising and notice that you are at 2000 rpm quite often, then it could be an annoyance.

But otherwise, it's an odd rpm range to spend any time at.

Still not sure what it suppose to sound like
I do notice at 4000rpm theres a high pitch humming sound, its esp loud if im going up an incline. Kinda sounds like a flute.

Here is my small contribution for now. I was out on a tunnel run with some other cars.

Thanks for the clips AR, all the gt-ones exhaust versions seem to have the same grunt, just some subtle differences.

Do you have aftermarket headers? Are the nsx-r na1 hearders the same as other na1 headers?

Hi mate, they are Mugen headers.

That is truly the coolest sound ever to come out of an NSX. Kudos

Nsxsupra since you posted those clips, what are the intake/exhaust mods on this NSX?

More clips

Edit: Can it be Scorp's GT-One F1 equipped NSX?
