Time Attack CTSC NSX

It's been a while since the last update. I haven't done as much as I wanted, but I hope this will change since I now have some more help.

To prep the car for the cage, we had to remove the partition window. After reading the workshop manual it looked to be a straightforward job. Just cut out the window from the inside and that's it... Wel... it wasn't that easy. Like always, getting the right tools is key. We tried cutting it with a stanley knife but it didn't work. We have tried for about three hours before we gave up and decided to call a professional. When he arrived it was done is a couple of minutes :D

In the meanwhile the lexan windows from Plastics4Performance arrived:

I didn't make any pics of the side windows, but the quality is very good!

I also removed the A/C condensers:

I hope we can get the engine out asap. We only have two months before the first race

Looks like you guys have some work on you're hand, I'm sure the team will be able to handle the task and have it ready on time for some azz kicking, hopefully you get some video and throw it our way, nothing better than some clenching you're seat type of racing video:smile:

Another episode :) Today we wanted to take the heads of to inspect for damage. But after a while we thought why not just drop the engine.. I don't have a lift yet, but I have been reading Shawn's builds and asked him for advice on how to do this and gave it a go. I didn't have wooden blocks at hand, so to make sure we would make the drop, we removed the supercharger first:

Then we tilted the car so we could drop the engine on a dolly:

Then we tilted the car the other way so we could ride the engine from under the car:

Smooth as silk! ;)

We found two problems though. One of the headers was filled with coolant... We didn't have time to remove the heads in the end, so that's to be continued. Another small issue was that three of the engine mount bolts, that bolt into the gearbox were gone and the mount on the gearbox was cracked.

nice drop I told you its easier than a civic. I would rather drop an NSX engine than cut a doubleDIN console for an NSX or drop a civic engine LOL

keep up the good work, I am worried about the transmission motor mount thats scary.

Wow.. Hello Dimer how much is that rear lexan hatch window? How is the fitmentn and does it have the weather stripping installed? Looks great.

Thanks,
Chad

From what I have seen now the fitment is great. It comes without weather stripping. I have only test fitted it. For pricing it is best to contact Adnan @ AS-Motorsport ;)

While waiting for other parts, these just came in:

Yesterday we disassembled the engine and it will go to the builder today for a full rebuild. I was expecting the cage yesterday as well, but let's hope it will be here today. I hope to have some pictures of the engine when it's at the builder.

Great photos. It's great to see a father and son racing NSX's. I would to be able to do that w my son one day.
Love the Rossi helmet.

Wwow, that's quite a project you have embarked upon Dimer,

Hope it works out okay in the end. At least you will now be able to tackle all the problems in one sweep :)
Have you already found out the source of your coolant problem. I remember that one kept reoccuring last year all the time.

You are sure going to be in one noisy NSX when you are finished :) :)

The source of the coolant problem was an easy find... Both head gaskets were blown. Cylinders and pistons shot as well. Exhaust valves were bent and valve springs soft as jelly. The engine is now at one of the best builders in the country for a complete overhaul.

We have also fixed most of the damage from last season:

Nice goodies. That looks like a tight working space.
