96xt: If you had a mock piece, we could probably build a prototype out of ABS for you depending on the angles. How are the fins attached to each piece of aluminum?

Would fitment for an 02+ bumper be any different? I'll be interested in tackling this project at our shop if you can give me more details...

I don't mind sharing at all. It's just that, in terms of DIY projects, my exhaust build has taken up most of my free time right now. I have cut all the diffuser pieces and I can probably mock it up for you fairly quickly.

The goal for me was to have something effective and functional. After reading up on underbody aerodynamics I realized its too much effort to do it properly so since this is just for looks (and adds weight to the car) it's kind of taken a back seat for me.

Take the extra step and round the edges a bit and use black crinkle paint

Here's a pseudo home made version for an S2k. Looks like ABS but it's alum and will withstand the heat and not warp or melt.

96cst - I like that diffuser! I'm sure it will look good once painted. I would definitely buy one if you sold it.

s4play - Each piece has a 90 degree bend that and bolts up the the top plate with 3 small bolts. (just like RYU's picture.)

On the 02+, I have no idea what the bottom of that rear skirt looks like. I should be able to make the mountings for it. I will try and look at someone locally to see fit I can make it work. I think the bigger issue with my diffuser will be the exhaust, my DC muffler is kinda big and hangs low so the diffuser stops about .25 inches before the muffler. People with different mufflers will have to work around it.

I dont mind sending you a mark up. I will let you know once i am done with it.

Ok so last night I painted the top and the end fins in black and I only had enough to cover one and a half (lol) of the 2 center fins with the CarbonFiber vinyl. I like the way the C/F vinyl came out. I am leaning more towards the C/F vinyl.

I had some time yesterday and got a lot of work done. I painted the top and the 2 end corners black, and the 2 center fins I covered in Carbonfiber vinyl. I didn't have enough c/f vinyl for both so the 2nd one I kinda just put bits and pieces together to just see what it looks like. I have ordered more c/f vinyl and should be here mid next wk.

I think it looks good too, but those fins MUST have round corners for street use (plus it would look a bit more "clean") ... otherwise if you get bottomed, you can get stuck!

Well the Ford GT's rear diffusor have pretty sharp edges too. So all he needed to do is just round off the edges ever so slightly like this
