Most convertables are vinyl and would not need any more waterproofing. The S2000 is heat welded so there is no stitching.

What specific car were you working on?

What car? Is it leaking? I know BMW doesn't recommend using any chemicals. Just keep it clean with car wash soap. I never had a problem on my M3.

I have a 97 BMW Z3. I dropped the car off this morning for a leak inspection.

I use Porsche convertible top protectant on my S2000. I bought it through www.carfanatics.com but I'm sure any Porsche dealer should carry it.
