What is the fan under hood at first start up??

After the car sits for like 2 days or longer, when you first start the car cold, a fan comes on after about 30 seconds of start and drive. I hear it for about 10-20 seconds and it goes off.

Could it be for ABS?? I do not see anything under there that would make the noise. Is it under the fender or a cover??

Any advise would be great!

Thanks for the fast reply. I figured it was the ABS because of the time of the sound. But, it is kinda loud and scratchy sounding. I do not think that is normal. But, I do not see where the noise could come from so I can try and fix the sound.

Any advise?

They get a little noisy as they get older but that's normal. You could do a good flush of the system and then the pump may run less often.
