I've been talking to three different dealerships, trying to get a deal done this month, and I may have to cast the net even wider. My ask is pretty consistent with all three, but their responses have been highly variable. Can I get some feedback on this approach?
1. There's a sticker price that we start from, obviously
2. There's some percentage that I am asking for off of sticker
3. If it's an exposure car, there's $2k per week that it was "exposed"
4. Finally, there's the $30k for financing with Acura/Honda, which comes off like a down payment since you still pay tax on the price before the $30k gets applied
On #2 , what's the target percentage on a base car? 8%, 10%? On a $200k car? 12%, 14%?
On #3 , is there a way to find out how many weeks ago the dealership officially told Acura "OK, it's an exposure car, start paying us"? Is there a max number of weeks Acura would pay for under this program?
Finally, for the cars with low VINs/cars that I can tell have been at the dealership for a while, is there any rebate/kick back from Acura that would cause the dealership to discount it more?
Thanks!
