Why has marketplace become such a drag?

PhiAlpha44 said:
Everytime I try to post to the "Selling" or "Buying" sections, It never sticks. I post it, come look the next day, nothing there. What the heck is going on?

The usual culprit, the rules.

In particular: Why Didn't My Ad/Reply Show Up? All posts in the Marketplace forums must be approved by a moderator before they will show up. We have several moderators, but they are unpaid volunteers with real lives so it can take a couple days. You will receive an automated PM from the system when your post is approved (or deleted) by a moderator. If you haven't received a PM, your ad is still awaiting moderation. Please be patient. If you do not understand why an ad was deleted, please re-read the rules and if you are still confused, contact a moderator and ask before re-submitting to avoid wasting your time and theirs.

no offense, but i have had the same issue, but what happens to the money thats donated?

I would think it goes to support Lud's pimp lifestyle

To be serious I would think that it goes to pay a fraction of the cost for the massive bandwidth this site sucks up.

Regards

OT: How much does it costs to run a site like this?

Does the marketplace really need to be moderated?

I've missed out on several deals because all the new ads show up at one time, and the early risers on the east coast, or folks who stay up late on the west coast get first choice on them.

Even being moderated, you'd think the rules don't exist. From no VIN, to no price. The site used to be a free for all and it was more work then to keep on top of the threads/posts versus now.

Here's what happens when you go relatively unmoderated - I hope we never come to that on 'Prime

Just scroll on back through the pages & see how posts by the OP vs people interested - only 14 of the 146 posts are not by the OP - & of those 14, 6 of those are from one buyer

Or this one - guy has bumped his post over 150 times!

Kudos to Ken

How damn stupid is this... I say I want to sell or trade my Carbon Fiber center console, and that I'm looking for a console in return. My post gets bumped for not having a price. What the hell price am I supposed to post? I'm asking for something in trade!

You my friend, need to relax a little. Do you realize moderators donate their personal time for free here? If you were paying for listings and I was getting paid to do this, it would be a different story. I do this out of a kindness and the friend I have, the owner of this site.

You joined Prime 05-10-2006, just passing the 6 month mark. Let's make your stay here a long and uneventful one.

BTW, your thread of which you are complaining was a duplicate of this post, so it would have been deleted anyway.

I don't think anyone here is questioning your dedication to making the Marketplace operate smoothly and efficiently. I personally am very thankful for people like you and the other moderators that contribute your valuable time to make our community as best as possible.

I think people are bit frustrated here because there doesn't seem, as a community, any collaborated effort to find solutions to this problem. I already know we have some very intelligent people on this board, like yourself, and together we can work on coming up with some creative solutions. At times I get the sense of us vs. them (Moderators) mentality, but I don't think it should be like this. Let's work to get solutions as a "community".

I'm not talking about people that don't read the rules here, and make posts that don't follow the guidelines. I'm talking about the time it takes to see posts to be approve and show up and other problems people are having with the Marketplace.

^^^^^^^
B*I*N*G*O.

There have been numerous complains, but yet solutions!
Why there's no one else share the moderating work load with ANYTIME?
There has to be at least 1 more inttelligent person out there to be a MODERATOR. As a community why don't be vote for some more MODERATORs to share the moderating task with ANYTIME???

Just my .01 cent

IMO, this is not entirely an accurate statement, marketplace moderators are well "compensated" for their time because they are the first to see and respond to low priced items.

There are reasons why I bought these items, see below.

Missed out on these. I waited 8 hours to reply, letting others have a chance to get them, which is what happened.

These got sold to a local NSX'er. I was going to give these away at the next Prime Drive.

Bought to give away at the next Prime Drive. These fit 91-94, so they won't even fit my 2000, which already has Comptech Sways.

Not the early spoiler as thought. The plan was to remake them, as seen in my wanted thread here.

Local NSX'er bought it before I could, as seen in my thread here. I was going to donate this to Lud for the Bikes for kids drive he has at Christmas. Found another one which is now going towards the Bikes for Christmas, as seen in my thread here.

Well compensated, what a joke. Feel any better now???

For those of you who are upset about how the marketplace forum is run, have you considered advertising your items for sale on a different site. Sites such as ebay and Craigslist usually have your items posted within minutes of it being submitted. Maybe this can be another option for some people who think that the rules here are too hard to follow.

Exactly correct, don't bother, it's just one person opinion/perception of the truth.

If you are unhappy with NSXPrime Marketplace, feel free to use ebay, craigslist or other listing sites. You have paid nothing for this and you are getting nothing in return. Sounds like things have balanced out.

Don't forget, this site is our playground that has been provided for free for many years and only recently has there been the ability to donate towards hosting of this site.

If you have a moment, read the rules and familiarize yourself with them. It will explain alot about how this site is run.

Is that a threat because I'm frustrated with the marketplace? And I did donate to the site... if that means anything.
