Good question. People who know how to drive a performance FWD know how much safer and therefore faster one can go in a fwd car especially when the engineering might of Honda is behind them. There is a reason the Type R has become a legend in Europe and soon in the US.

This is when Honda is at its finest. Pure performance, lightness, ferocity of purpose and the proper use of world class technology. Awesome machine! Well done Honda!

Concur with most of what you are saying except that quality and cost really do not go hand in hand. A Ferrari 488 is likely much less reliable than a 911 GT3 or the current NSX for instance. Mercedes and BMW are far less reliable than Toyota for that matter.
