Doesn't the cone filter reduce the overall filtering efficacy and also decrease peeformance drawing in hot engine compartment air, expecially in the summer?

Also amused rim (actually the outer circumference part of the wheel) is used. Very VIP Forum lingo, rather unexpected on a perfromance car forum.
