Doing some of my own research on the matter, it seems the most important bit is that the ratio between rear and front needs to be within 5% of the stock tire ratio.
On the stock 91 tires, 225/50/16 & 205/50/15, ratio = 24.9/23.1 = 1.078, so I need something between 1.028 and 1.128.
Stock 96...
It seems like every tire thread is about summer tires. Well, I want all seasons so that I can drive the car in the colder months. I figured I'd start with the tire first and then work backwards to what wheels might work with the tires. Keep in mind my NSX is a 91.
On the 96 wheels there...
Yeah, the problem I'm having is with all-seasons. There just aren't any all-seasons for the OEM tire sizes. It doesn't make much sense to me, as I'm sure plenty of people drive these cars under 50F.
I'm in Raleigh, NC and have a set of OEM 16/17 96 wheels. They were refinished with a shiner chrome finish. They would come as a set, I can't do just the rears.
A bunch of tires options to choose from, really? I looked for tires for the OEM 15/16 wheel set and all that came up were a couple of summer and racing/autocross tires.
Follow-up question:
Aside from the various electrical cables, covers, are these bolts the main things I need to remove to take out & replace the alternator?
On these diagrams, where would I find the tensioner to loosen the alternator belt? If I have to ask this question, is that a sign that I might be in over my head?
I've been thinking about this some and the thing I wonder is, even if I do rebuild the alternator, it seems to me the replacement parts for it would also be less than OEM quality. So I see your point about keeping the original alternator, it just seems to me that no matter what, it's never...
If your criteria is a fun sports car, the S2000 is probably one of the top choices. The NSX isn't just any old fun sports car - it's special, it's an engineering masterpiece, it's rare, it's exotic, it's a dream car. It's overqualified for the fun sports car criteria.
