Have it rebuilt. A new OEM alternator will be very expensive if you can source one at all.( over $1000) Having yours rebuilt will probably be $100 bucks or so, plus you retain the original.

The shift knob just unscrews. As far at the boot, lift and turn it just under the knob. It should detach easily.

Also WD40 is the best at removing the glue/caulking from the plastic inner door barrier that may get on your outer black door molding.

I have an NEX8000 and you can put the flat antenna up under the dash on the round brace. It dosen't have to be external, it will work fine. As stated it's not easy to match the console color to the door panels but you can get pretty close. There was no way I was gonna redo both door...
