New Announcement!!!!! (7.15.11)

It is official: Sideways Sundays will be drifting on the banking, just like XDC and Formula D. Tell all the drifters you know to bring their horsepower to Toyota Speedway Irwindale on July 31st! In order to run on the banking cars will need to meet XDC and Formula D tech guidelines. Of course we will also be running a second track for drivers not ready to take on the banking.

a. Vendors and Drifters check in at 8:00 am
b. Media check in at 9:00 am
c. Spectators enter at 9:30 am
d. Track goes hot at 10:00 am
e. Drifting ends at 4:00 pm
f. Awards ceremony for Drifting and Car Show winners at 4:10 pm
g. Gates close at 5:00 pm

Vendors: 10’ x 10’ booth space comes with two free passes for $250 and a 10’ x 20’ space comes with three passes for $300. Space reservations are on a first come basis, so get your email in today to get the space location of your choice.

any questions? Please e-mail [email protected]

an awesome update for those planning to show their ride!
Car Show participants will only be $10 for the July 31st Sideway Sundays event!
That's a $10 discount from the original price. We want the Car Show section to be as big as the drifting event, so make sure to come out, have fun, and show-off your ride.

I attended the event on July 27 and to answer my own above questions, the person in charge said that the Speedway does not organize the event so may be that why it is not on the official schedule. They are in charge of facilities, but they do not to the planning and such (or something like that).
The weather was really hot. I wish there was more shade as I could not stand the heat as did everyone else. Another criticism I have is that the announcers did not do their homework before they spoke on the microphone. At least they should be able to name all the sponsors of the event. Maybe get someone who actually knows more about what is going on to speak in the microphone.
It was exciting to see people drift in addition to the nice cars shown. However I noticed that the Drift cars were dominated by Nissan and some Mazda. I do not think there were any Hondas, which is unfortunate since they represented a large volume of show cars. I think there were 1 or 2 Toyotas. There was 1 BMW (and the driver was one of the best). I cannot recall any American drift cars either.
Also there was talk about a photo contest. Where do we find the details?
Also, the only NSX was in the parking lot (mine). I came late from Super car Sunday.
Here are some of the July 31 Sideways Sunday. If anyone wants to post them on the forum go right ahead:
