CTSC oil level dipstick screwed in or not?

A friend of mine came up with the question if he should check the oil level in the supercharger with the dipstick screwed in or just hold on the hole. The difference is something like 5 mm. I strongly believe it's with the dipstick screwed in as it's similar to checking oil level of the engine.
 
It should be screwed in just like you have to push in the dipstick all the way down to check your engine oil. On my Whipple 1.6, I find filling it to 80% of the hash mark works best as anything more than that will slowly come out the bleeder hole.
 
I can hardly ever see the oil on that dam dipstick. It's so frustrating I have to clean and dip, clean and dip, hold it against the light, guess, clean it again, put it in again, and hope what I read was right and that I didn't just overfill it.

That's true. Kenne Bell's supercharger oil is blue and should be easier to read.

FWIW in other applications with screw in dipsticks you measure fluid level with the stick held against the threads i.e. NOT screwed in.

Use one of those blue (or any colored) shop paper towels and tap the dipstick unto the paper/towel for easy read of the level.

True, assuming you have not capped/sealed the bleeder as many of us have - on the old versions of Autorotor this was creating a mess.
 
Lysholm seems to have updated their homepage. I came across this info:

ii. Thread the clean dipstick into the unit until it seats.
iii. Once the dipstick has seated, remove the dipstick
from the unit. Fluid should register in the
crosshatched area on the dipstick.

Interesting: The unit is recommended to be heated up below 25 F due to tight clearances.

AND

When starting the engine each day, allow
plenty of time for the oil to reach full operating
temperature before running above 2,500 RPM.

is pretty hard to examine.
