OK SO I go get my 93 NSX w/auto this week-end so I figure I need insurance. Call my agent up and this is what he told me:

100,000/300,000/100,000
5000 med
500/500 deduct's

Married guy, mid 40's, no tickets or accidents, garage kept in the middle of Iowa, 5000 miles a year, Allied Ins Co.

$369.00 a year:biggrin:

This is like $70 cheaper than my 01 camaro SS

Yeah I pay just under $100/month for my insurance which is slightly cheaper then it was with my old Type-R.

wow.

mine has been alot more for a lot less valuable cars.

then again, 22 isn't the optimal age for insurance

Benefits of getting old I guess? Haha..

23, two reckless tickets(both 3+ years ago), full coverage w/$500 deductibles- $670/6 months.

same here. i paid an extra 600 dollars a year for owning a Type-R vs owning the NSX. Insurance uses the amount of claims on a car per year at a national level so there are a lot more claims on an Type-R vs a NSX.

You guys got it easy. $330 x 10=$3300. Not a good situation. To top it all off, the car is garaged all the time and this year I only put on about 1500 miles. Still, a small price to pay for ownership.

What a timely post!

I was just thinking about switching from American Family Insurance to Allied. Allied wants $211 less per year to cover both of my cars with higher limits.

I've even been told that Allied will cover me on a track, as long as I'm not involved in a timed event

On paper, this looks like a no-brainer, but does anyone here have experience with Allied? Especially claims experience? Is this a "you get what you pay for" situation, or is Allied really a better company to go with?

Any feedback would be Appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

My ex-wife made a claim against Allied a few years ago. She didn't have any trouble collecting then.

I'd like to hear from someone who made a claim from Katrina. That would be a real informative post.

I'm in the same age category. Farmer's Insurance (that I also use for 3 other cars and my home) couldn't do better than about $400/6 months. And that's with $2,500 deduct and a 5% discount because I'm a degreed engineer (I actually had to send a copy of the diploma to Farmer's).

Sounds like I need to give this group a call. Thanks for the post.

my quote was 193 mth for NSX as a second car. My X5 is 155mth philly pretty expensive. 1 fender bender 2 yrs ago and no tickets

also, philadelphia (the city) is very expensive to insure cars to begin with.

luckily you're not in NJ... we have the highest in the nation.
i got a quote for an NSX awhile back.. i was about 20 years old, no accident, ticket. and they wanted a $1000 deduct.. and around $3-4k a year full coverage.

93 NSX

50/100/50
5k med
Uninsured/under insured motorist
rental car
Roadside assistance
1k deductible
<$360 = 6 months

State Farm, then Wawanesa sent me a quote something like $400-600 for 1 year!

24 years old, NOW recently 25, WAY too many tickets these last 6 years, more than I can count on both hands maybe even 3 hands, all of them moving violations. Yes, it's under MY name, MY credit, MY driver's license. Have never paid more than $60/month for anything I've ever owned, car/truck/motorcycle full coverage or not in my entire life.

Oh, no! Not again!!!

Do we really need yet another "how much do you pay for insurance" topic? Come on, folks - this has been discussed here many times before. We already have way too many such topics as it is, and anyone can check the numbers posted in them by clicking on these links:

Finally, to quote Mr. nsxtasy:

"Rates are going to vary depending on company, state, town, age, driving record, coverages and limits, etc.

There's a very easy way to find out how much it will cost for you to insure an NSX. Just call your insurance company and ask. They can tell you, even without you having to buy the car. Or you can check an online service such as http://www.insweb.com"

It all depends my friends..

After my unforunate incident where my beloved NSX cartwheeled into a quarry in flames and landed on it's top.. Yes I would agree the insurance was quite acceptable and even agreeable to a young lad such as myself.

As you can imagine the insurance company, chose to blame ME for this, and not at the very least my woman's brother.. who was working out 3 times a week that summer and was sporting some nice abs and a low BMI index.. The man looked fantastic.. like a chiseled greek statue, the kind with the flacid yet powerful looking members..

In any case.. They raised my insurance quite a bit.. around 500% of standard...

Just be certain my friends of all friends, that if you DO make a decision.. that not everyone will agree with you, in terms of insurance..
