Opinions on a fast, fun, "make a statement" 4 door DD

I've been holding off on making a big purchase since I took my new position. But with gas prices having an impact on sales of gas guzzlers I am tempted to start my seach now. :biggrin:


Looking for a fast, stylish, make a statement sports sedan that has the luxuries to match. I'm an advocate of letting new car buyers take the depreciation hit so Im lookin for a car couple years used in the 55k range.

Current players are Maserati Quattroporte (sport or executive), and Mercedes Benz CLS 55 or 63.


Anyone have any experiences with these cars, or have any suggestions on whatelse I should be considering?

An '07 RS 4 perhaps.
 
Both great cars overall, but I find the Audi's styling very conservative and Ive never liked BMW interiors.

I will be driving with back seat passengers frequently so rear seat leg room could be an issue too.
 
The only other car I can think of is the Jag XF (Supercharged), but I don't know how "sporty" it is.

Of course the Jag is probably going to take the biggest hit in resale value with Merc not too far off.

Cadillac CTS-V or STS-V. I love my CTS-V and I've found my short-shifting, I can get decent gas mileage out of it!
 
NEW CTS-V (not dissing on the old one... but come on, the new one has like 150hp more). I love the Quattroporte as well though. For ME personally:

1. Quattroporte (getting a nice refresh for '09)
2. M5
3. New CTS-V
4. CLS63
 
Do you need AWD? Then hands down (IMHO) the RS4 or a nice used RS6. RS6 prices dropped like a rock and they are the best DD on the planet for snowy climates.
 
out of your choices cls63 would be more fun to drive than the 55 with the 63 having paddle shifters/7 speed tranny, and theyre just beautiful cars


or you could step up to the 140k used range and just get a newer s65 with the renntech computers, only like 750 hp/900 trq:eek:
 
or if you just want to go a little bigger without all the power you could get 07+ s550 sport, those cars are so nice inside and out, but theyre big cars
 
To me the RS4 stands alone compared to it other siblings. Those wide fender flares scream for some fat lipped 20's.
 
In that price range, the CLS is a nice choice. Black on black on black; murdered-out would be HOT!
 
i've got the rs6, it's a blast. There are quite a few low mileage ones out there. Mine is chipped with race exhaust, and this thing MOVES. On a cold day, its faster than my blown nsx that puts down 380 rwhp. I think i'm at about 520 hp with just the chip/exhaust.

i also considered the cts v, e55, m5, and maserati. looked at all of them.

That may be the problem -Hot, depending upon your local. Aside from that all black is a little to much "gangsta" for me. But I do love the CLS. My taste would be white with tan or silver with red leather.

any rebutle's to this video are going to be terribly difficult
 
I like the E55 AMG, just the right size. If you want better reliability, more exclusivity, better resale, and better performance... there is always the GTR.
