The people at PIT Rally has reach out to me about an event they have invited NSX owners to attend. Below is what they sent to me. For more info please go to their website or contact Rick, info listed at the bottom.

Hi Les,

We're holding an event on Saturday, August 2nd that is growing to be one of the largest automotive experiences in Colorado! Since this is in the Southwest Region, I was told you were the person I need to speak with.
We're holding a hillclimb that is over 7 miles long, 4 lanes wide and ends in the town of Central City, CO. The town has allowed us to close several streets and lots to place automotive enthusiast vendors, entertainment, etc. Also, many of local businesses and casinos are hosting after parties for attendees and those participating in the race! It's going to be a crazy event, and we wanted to extend NSXCA an invitation.

The event is completely free to come and spectate, as well as tour all of the booths and vendors. We also have specific club parking (also would be free parking to those clubs participating) on the top 3 levels of a participating casino's parking garage...they offer some beautiful views with some great cars as company.

As we're huge fans of NSXs (just like most people), we would like to see them properly represented at the event! Again, it's free...the only thing we would need is a car count ahead of time to ensure we have adequate space. Feel free to ask me any questions.

If they want to gather some NSXs and make group cruise, have one of them reach
out to me and I can make sure they're parking is setup.

Thanks,
Rick Douglas

Did the promo for this event last Sept. Got to do 4 runs on the closed course. A Lambo Murcielago ran into the wall on his first run and corner.

Damn that's crazy:eek:........For some reason I thought it was just a race that we could watch and not participate it? Wow, very cool so it's open to anybody who wants to do the hill climb?

How were your runs last year? Did they time them or was it more for just fun?

Anybody can race in one of the classes. There is a promo video on youtube. We did not time our runs, it was just for fun. Even the Central City cops raced up!

Hello - I wanted to chime in on the conversation and let you guys know what we're doing. We're now planning a large "Grand Opening" Escorted Cruise on the Parkway race morning and would like to see the NSX properly represented (as Dawk did during the promo shoot).

The Parkway is a 4 lane curvy highway stretching 8 miles long. We want all 4 lanes filled with cars stretching almost a mile long! Free to participate and FREE VIP Parking for everyone involved! We're accepting all years/makes/models of vehicles, but need the cleanest, meanest, most beautiful cars CO has to offer!

Feel free to share this, but also be mindful of the quality of cars we're looking to participate. If you're part of a group, please arrive together as it makes it much easier for us to stage you. Parkway closes at 10am, we'll be starting the cruise shortly after. Feel free to call with any questions at the contact info listed LMR's post!

I took part in the "Grand Opening Escorted Cruise" this morning -- and it was a blast. I have no idea where the Escort was, but hitting triple digits in a pack of about 75 -100 cars is not to be missed next year. It was no doubt dangerous as hell, but it sure was fun. There was everything from Lambos, a brace of Corvettes, a couple GTRs, a (stock) Chevy Cruze, a 60s vintage Studebaker (that stalled in the middle of the track just before turn #2), dozens of Cameros, Mustangs, Challengers, Chargers, Porsches by the bushel basket, a few Ferraris, STi-WRXs, Mazdas, and about everything else you can think of. There was but one NSX.

If it happens again -- do it!

Sounds like an awesome experience!! I definitely want to go to the next one if there is a next time?
I'm not holding my breath. The reason they can do this at all is that the road is private, and runs through private land. But that is also the problem. There were no liability releases to sign, or even any entry forms to fill out. Show up and drive like a fool -- with other fools. Perhaps a quarter of the people had any competition or high speed experience and many of them plain didn't know how to drive fast.

Actually no one ever said it was going to be a high-speed run, but what the heck did they expect? All this high powered machinery with a wide variety of driving ability, on a private road without cops; I don't think it could have been anything but a rat-race. If/when the city fathers (or the road bond-holders) get wind of this, I think it will be a one-off event.

Sure was fun though.

Makes sense, hopefully not and if there weren't any accidents or major issues I don't see why they won't do it next year also?? We'll see if guess, but if they do have it again I will go for sure!

One-off event? Wow, thanks for that. The last line in your post is the only one that holds any weight.

Don't worry yourself to death, it's okay to have a little fun without your hand being held. The "fathers" knew about every detail of our event...sheesh. We would rather it be memorable as a great time with big smiles rather than a boring 35-45mph lull for 8 miles...and that's exactly what everyone got. There was tons of cheering, high fives, laughs, fist pumps, engine revs, "woohooo"ing, and (heaven forbid) some light hooliganism...the crowd loved it, film crew loved it, hosts loved it, corner marshals and the participants, which actually included some said "fathers", loved it. Next year, and rest assured that there is a next year, will be more of the same.

I remember your NSX, thank you for coming and representing the community properly, it was a beautiful example which is why I specifically made a point to shake your hand.

PS: Thankfully there were no accidents throughout the entire event...even at 189mph.
