We are very excited to introduce a new clutch to our line up. The Sport 275 Clutch & Flywheel kit joins our existing Sport 350 Clutch & Flywheel kit. As you might suspect, the naming of these clutches is based on the amount of torque they have been designed to handle.

We've been hard at work on this new clutch, which offers factory-like pedal pressure and smooth engagement while being lighter and less expensive than the factory clutch & flywheel. We realized that the Sport 350 Clutch & Flywheel, the model we have been selling for several years now, which is capable of handling the torque created by most supercharged and turbocharged NSX, was overkill for many of our customers - and a unit designed for factory powered or the mildly modified NSX was in order.

The ScienceofSpeed Sport 275 Clutch & Flywheel Kit is the ultimate clutch and flywheel package for the factory powered or moderately modified street and track driven NSX. The Sport 275 Clutch & Flywheel Kit offers factory like drivability (smooth engagement & light pedal pressure) with a performance edge.

Our emphasis on this clutch was to offer a premium quality clutch at an affordable price. The ScienceofSpeed Sport Clutch & Flywheel Kit consists of premium components manufactured in Japan by Honda's original parts supplier as well as components built in the USA. Other similar clutches from other manufactures use pressure plate and clutch discs made overseas that vary in quality and consistency. Each clutch and flywheel assembly is individually assembled, tested, then dynamically balanced. The pressure plate is keyed into location so that it may only be installed the correct way. The custom made flywheel, which is precision machined for factory like fitment, has been designed to be lightweight and uses a patented design that allows consistent operation and the ability to be rebuilt in the future.

We've made a large investment in the manufacturing and inventory of these clutches to offer a clutch & flywheel package, complete with bearings and installation hardware, at a price that is less than the factory clutch and less than even inferior made aftermarket clutches!

  • drivability: factory like pedal pressure and smooth engagement
  • rated for 275 lb/ft at the engine - making it ideal for factory powered or mildly modified NSX
  • lightweight (reduces the weight of the clutch & flywheel by 11 lbs for 91-96 and 19 lbs for 97-05 NSX)
  • premium quality: Japan made pressure plate & cover from Honda's supplier - others use overseas made units that vary in quality and consistency
  • each clutch is individually balanced, pressure plate keyed, and flywheel precision machined for factory like fitment
  • pricing: here's where we're excited! we've been able to design a clutch that use premium components & precision manufacturing for less than a factory clutch and other competitors!

We have this clutch in stock & ready to ship.

Chris,
any reasons why this is not made with one-piece chromoly flywheel like the Jun or Tilton design? Is it manufacturing cost?

We prefer this design because it is lighter, less expensive to machine, and the patented segmented friction puck design allows even radial expansion from heat and for the flywheel to be rebuilt for minimal cost.

cheers,
