Took off the rear wheel and access plate - only the upper left hand part of the snap ring is visible, bits of it are scattered over the recess below the access plate, part of the ring is still clinging to the shaft, not clear how much.

Bottom line so far...

8 hours labour @ £75 per hour
upper gearbox casing £965
clutch ( while we're in there... stupid not to on a 60,000 mile car ) £700
bits and pieces £50

all plus 17.5% VAT, of course....

So, staring a £3K bill full in the face.

I'll let you know if Honda UK feel inclined to subsidise the parts bill and to what extent.

Sorry to hear it, but not surprised based on the symtoms described.

Based on other Euro NSX owners experiences, I doubt Honda is going to give you anything towards the repair.

Do you have any mechanic with NSX experience who is not at a Honda dealer? A shop who wouldn't mind if you bought the parts somewhere else (like overseas) and asked them to install them? Should be able to save you quite a bit of that £3000. Let us know if you need help.

Holy s..!
I doubt if it can be done by a not(?) NSX experienced engineer in this time....

upper gearbox casing £965
And i thought they where expensive overhere......
Odd though that they where cheaper just across the channel.

clutch ( while we're in there... stupid not to on a 60,000 mile car ) £700

Not always, have a look at the clutch before replacing, maybe it's done before? Why replace a clutch when it's ok?
Might as well upgrade to new type single clutch set, since here in Europe the old type clutchset is sold including the flywheel.

I hope that works out, might change things for the euro-NSX owners.
