Several of us went to the Tsujiki Fish Market and got on line as early as 3:30 am to witness the tuna auction. Well the first auction of 2011 has seen the highest selling price ever for a tuna:

$396,000 USD
:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

amazing, 396000 USD for a tuna, wonder how big that tuna was.

Wonder how much the last tuna would cost once the Japanese finish catching all the world's tuna? Dolphins? Whales?

How did the wasabi taste?

You can buy fresh Wasabi at Mitsuwa. It cost $99.00 per pound.

Fresh Wasabi is totally different in taste to the powdered crap!

that is "Hot f#$in Tuna"

Would love to try REAL wasabi instead of this green dyed horseradish
and dolphin
and whale
and blow fish -There's a place in SF called Fugu(sp) that serves it actually

Hi,
We missed the Tuna markets on the trip (bit early for me!) but it reminded me of seeing a couple of Tuna on the pavement in Pt Lincoln which is the town in South Australia where they are caught (farmed and wild). We think they were "past the use by date" and left for fisherman to pick up for shark bait.

They have started a tourist thing where you can swim with them in the pens, while avoiding the white pointer sharks who also like a snack.

What a great trip the Fiesta was and Hi to all our new friends.

The kid in the picture is Dean.

Cheers,
Scott

Anyone see the movie called the COVE?

I really dun care for the Japanese government.

Bunch of criminals - worse than the USA gov.
