Ccw classic 8.5 and 10.5 wheels. - add 20
ctsc - add 10

Net = minus ~75 lbs

Curb weight of a 2000 NSX-T = 3160 lbs. So 3100lbs sounds about right.

Has anybody replaced the rear window with the lexan hatch from SOS? What is the weight of the rear window and the weight of the lexan hatch?

dont know about SoS' lexan hatch, but dali offers a street one that saves 12lbs over stock. considering how high up it is, it'd be a worthwhile weight savings.

regardless, the data is pertinent to this discussion. he also has a lighter version (saving over 16lbs) but since it sags on a warm day, i am assuming that is not similar to SoS' version. i could be wrong though.

the lighter weight race version. the street version is fine.

there is also a FAL one on umbrellaautodesign but no info on weight is given.

another possible hatch replacement is carbon fiber from VIS but clearly you wont be able to see out of it. no weight is given on that either.

i am considering this mod, but shipping is freight so im saving this til i run out of cheaper weight reduction mods.

If I do this mod eventually, I will go with the SOS one, possibly with the duct if I go with an aftercooler for my CTSC later on.

Even for car without FI, would a duct help cool the engine bay? would it suck in water during rain or dirt? Is there a mesh in the duct?

What is the weight of NSX R front and rear chassis bars?
What is the weight of the NSX R front sway bar?

If no one knows this stuff off hand I'll post it when I weigh the stuff myself.

and i am concerned with insurance claims... say you get into a minor accident, they could deny coverage because you changed out the crash beam.

Actually, I said this because you're new here and I don't want you falling into the same pit as so many others. Since you're talking about possibly spending a decent chunk of money of Dali parts, you should probably understand the risks associated with it.

I'm about 1160kgs with maybe 1/3 tank fuel.
Still have a few thing planned.
I'm going to reloacate the Alternator to where the A/C compressor was & make a Billet Alternator Mount/Engine Mount.
New Lightweight Flywheel with Custom Made Carbon Clutch.
Lexan engine hatch
Alluminium Clutch pedal
SOS Billet RH Engine mount
I've also replaced every unstressed bolt with Alluminium bolts. Every little bit counts!

I made my own. Its much easier to fabricate than the rears. Turned out fantastic.

That's what I'm going to do too. Working on a design now. I'll use that cast iron anchor just to load/unload the engine in the car.

Of course this COULD happen with some over zealous agent, although IMO it's very unlikely if you go to YOUR body shop and mention the aftermarket parts to them and the situation. But if you are worried about this you may consider the huge drop in impact resistance. As a retired Design Engineer that has had the alum and CF beams, all of these beams are WAY weaker than factory and could even be enough to total a car that would otherwise have made it.

Doing this mod is only for the fanatics like me. The factory alum beam is really strong. You may want to stay with it. It is NOT just a big square tube. I drilled a few pounds off of my rear alum beam before i went with the CF. Frankly with all the driver distraction now, i'm now a bit more worried than i was way back then.

Wow, that company sucks. Folks insure street rods of course and they do not pay more for that coverage. I'd switch companies personally and then (perhaps) not worry. The airbag removal is a bit of a worry for some of us. Shame on me, i'll stir up a hornets nest.
