What did you do when you first get your NSX?

NJ NSX - NSXPO this year is going to be at Watkins Glenn, right in our back yard:):)

It seems that you may be new to this forum, if so definitely make sure you check out our Northeast Forum, and welcome!!

NSXMR2- we kind of just went back and forth. He took off at the light, I'm not a street racer but I couldnt resist and was so excited in the NSX for the first time I owned it. I gave chase then he slowed down and little stuff like that, never got a chance to line up with him though...

I'll never forget it!

Picked up the car in Germany and drove it back 200 miles to home. Weather was not really good but. Had made a special NSX-tape (no CD-changer then yet) just for the occasion.
One back in Holland, took the long road home. And then, in the evening, just cruised around town. Couldn't sleep at night at all, went out a thousand times (or so it seems now) to look at the car.
Unfortunately, I had to bring the car away again the next day to get the import and license-paperwork done which took three weeks to do. Was climbing the walls during that time ;)

First drive home got into a little heated race with a brand new C5- too bad the owner was so damn cocky.

That picture was taken in a CYM Rx-7, huh? Used to own a montego blue one....sweet cars.

Even after 5 years of NSX ownership I still go out at night and look at the car. Why not? It is a good looking car. :)

I flew down to Sacramento from Spokane, WA with my friend, Roger. The owner drove us to his house from the airport and when we pulled up, the garage door opened to reveal my dream car. I hopped in and, for the first time, drove an NSX :D. It was so exciting, so fulfilling, so delightful. I handed him the bank check and drove it home to Spokane. Every rest stop, gas station and food stop, I just stepped back and stared at my beauty. I don't think I ever got it over 100mph the whole way back.. I was just so content with finally driving it. My radar detector was a blessing on the I-5, though. It still makes me happy, just writing this, thinking back on my trip.

First I'm going to drive somewhere I can be alone; just to sit and look at it and thank God for it .. and thank God for Honda. :D
Then I'll drive around and visit the people who always believed I'd get an NSX.
Next, i'll call all my mates who said i'd never own one. :D HA!!! They can wait a week before they see it. :D
In the meantime I'm going to wash and polish it about 3 times a day for the first week. :p

I'm going to take some of my close female friends out on some HOT DATES to classy parts of town ... maybe even park in the Italian part of town where a lot of ferrari's drive. :D ROFL...

I might even give my ex- a call up and drive around and show her. Not so much to spite her, but because she loved Honda's. And if it makes her think "d@mn, i should have stuck with him" then that's a bonus. :D Hmmm... two X's in the same place at the same time; maybe not such a good idea.

Oh yeah... i nearly forgot... take a million photos and a lot of video footage for you guys on prime! :D

did i miss anything?

I drove it home, put it in the garage and cleaned the Exhaust (Tubi) ! The exhaust system is as gorgeous as the car! What's wrong with me?

Best question from a person I was showing the car to?

What kind of gas mileage does it get?

Answer:
Who the heck cares

:D

(I could not believe this was a guy asking this question)

Great thread! I went to a McDonalds drive-thru for an ice cream cone, drove around with a big smile. Then I drove to a friends and let him drive it. Then I drove home and washed it. Great day!

This still happens after 12 years of ownership for me. Very few cars can inspire that sort of admiration.

My wife and I picked it up on a Friday at around 10:00 a.m. - it was just before Christmas in '99. I bought the car in Colorado and it was shipped to a dealer near my house in California. I never knew what the Pearl meant in the Yellow Pearl until I saw it that morning - it had the most beautiful metallic glow!! It had 51 miles on the odometer. We drove it to the wine country around Napa, and we had lunch at Brix Restaurant in Yountville. It was a glorious sunny day at the beginning of winter - a memorable day indeed.

Driving my NSX home entailed crossing the Sierra Nevada mountains. At two points on that drive, a deer ran in front of me. I didn't hit either of them, but I can report that it only takes a fraction of a second to have the thought "bodywork on an aluminum-body car can be very expensive".

I forgot to mention that my girlfriend was like WHY THE HELL DID YOU BUY THAT FOR. 2 weeks later she just wanted to be in it all the time.

I care.

Isn't that one of the benefits of buying a Honda built supercar - that it's efficient and eco-friendly? Why else would Honda put a V6 in their halo car when everyone else is putting in V8/10/12's? Don't be a snob, and remember the Exotic Owners Code of Conduct:

I will always be polite, courteous, and friendly. I will not talk down to or ignore anyone, and I will cheerfully answer all questions.

I was polite, courteous and friendly answering the gas mileage question, it was the context that made me laugh out loud since everyone else was asking about the other performance parameters of the car.

The crowd I was showing the car to knows me and knows that I do care a lot since my daily driver is a Honda Insight. My fleet mileage is (NSX=17MPG + Insight=63.7MPG)/2 = 48.85MPG fleet average.

That's assuming you are putting the same amount of miles on both cars.

You fleet average should be higher with the Insight as your daily driver. Is the Insight the slowest Honda made for the US? If it is, you have the fastest and the slowest Honda built for the US.

No it is not. Due to the 1800lb curb weight it's faster than a normal Civic for example. Due to the aerodynamics (lowest drag coefficient on any production car) it can do 113 mph. It also has low rolling resistance tires unique to the Insight. In some ways since it's a newer design and an R&D platform for various technologies it is more advanced than the NSX.

The day I got my new 03 NSX

That morning I took a flight from Phoenix to Modesto, CA. The salesman picked me up at the airport, had a few lease papers for me to sign ($799/mo. + tax). The first place I drove was BK for a whopper. Then I flipped Scott Peterson the bird and drove 12 hours back to Scottsdale. Got home at midnight where my wife was waiting for her first ride in my red/black baby. We VTEC'd it for the first time together. That was a fun way to break in a car.

well, I took a flight from so cal to Seattle, Washington to pick up my 1995 Nsx. It was a friday morning, around 9am, when I arrived. Rain was pouring heavily. The first time I saw my NSX, it was parked in front of the house overlooking the lake. Wow, it was gorgeous, like the owners wife. She handed me the titanium key and off I went. I drove it back from seattle to so Cal in 2 day enjoying all the sites in between. After I got it home I parked it in the garage and I admired it all night long.

I found mine on Prime and after getting a PPI done on it, I bought a one way ticket to Portland, Oregon and got picked up at the air[port by the owner in it..I took it for a quick spin and then just drove him to his bank to seal the deal..30 minutes later I dropped him off at his home and was off to So Cal...Over 1000 miles of sheer extasy..I knew I would love this car for a long time when I passed up a Civic full of hotties and they all gave me a big smile:p as I was leaving Portland...I still love seeing it parked in the garage, it still hasn't worn off one bit....:D

At 16, I was so so so excited when i got my Camry
At 19, I was so so excited when i got my BMW 3 series
At 21, I was so excited when i got my Supra TT
At 28, I was still excited when i got my NSX

Compares to NSX..

Maybe I did not have the innocent grin from ear to ear when i got my Camry...

Maybe I did not have the show-off mentality when i got my BMW

Maybe I did not have the rush of a road king wannabe in my supra..

But, I am privileged to achieve one of my life time dream -> being a proud NSX owner!

An incredible day and an incredible trip home

Only 200 miles but in record time
Negotiated the deal on the phone and web. Thanks to DocJohn I received a heads up quick exam on the car of my dreams. Took a vanfull of lookey loos and family to assist in the completion of the used car checklist from our FAQ page. The dealer had 5 Ferraris and 8 Porches as well as other high end stock on his lot. But the car I was after was a 95 Formula Red with a Tan interior. After 2 hours examining the car from top to bottom and a test drive through the mountains around Kingston PA the deal was sealed and I was on my way home to NJ. My son rode shotgun and was a bit surprised when he looked over to see that the speedo was at a constant 110 for the first hour of our trip. Thanks to my Valentine One I avoided a few troopers as I re-entered NJ. My daugther and her friends finally caught up with us at a rest stop and she rode back with me the rest of the way home. The weather started out as a drenching downpour but the afternoon ride home was just overcast and the ride smooth, fast, and comfortable. Now, I live, eat, breathe NSX. I have always stuck to the motto work hard play hard and the NSX certainly is the finest play time anyone can have:D :D :D
