Do any of you plan on keeping the NSX forever?

When I bought this car, I told myself, this is it. This is the car I am going to keep forever and possibly pass down to my son. To be truthful, I still feel this way. Are there any others who can honestly say they are keeping their cars forever? Now, I will be the first one to admit that I may be wrong as I love new technology in cars. Although the NSX doesn't have the newest gadgets and gizmos, I can't see myself in a sexier, more desirable car than this. Any thoughts?

My initial plan was to own the car only for a year or two.

However, now that the NSX is discontinued, and there are no new NSXs (or at least comparable ones from Acura), and given how sweet my NSX is, right now I have no plans to get rid of it.

Since I purchased it from the original owner, know the entire service history on it, and it's got so many sweet upgrades, low miles, pristine, it will be hard to get rid of it, as I'm sure it will take a long long time to find a similar NSX in the future.

Even if I do sell it, I am 100% sure I will regret it in the future, no matter even if I get a Lambo or Ferrari or other exotic car as a replacement.

If I sold and got into anything else other than another nsx I would probably regret it. It seems like alot of folks that sell and get into something else other than another nsx end up regretting it or eventually coming back to the nsx.

That's 100% right.

They aren't making any more new, pristine NSXs, especially the coupes, so it'll be hard to find a replacement for.

That and the fact the older NSXs will not depreciate make it a very hard decision financially to sell it.

I'm planning on it ;) performance cars are meant to be fun and require skill to drive well. things like "clutchless" manuals and computer controlled differentials simply rob you of that experience IMO

Actually, I have had my moments of doubt.
With new cars coming out all the time, it is obvious that the NSX will lag in technological advancement more and more. Some things can be updated but.

There are moments that I don't like the NSX for it's lack of speed and such. However, at the same time, when I walk into the garage and I see my NSX waiting for me, a shiny down-to serious business kind of car, looking mean and ready to go, I fall in love with it all over again. And I have to keep remembering that the NSX can still beat about 99% of everything out there.

So, as things stand now, I will try to keep the NSX for a long time coming, at least for another 3-4 year.s

I'll pass it on to my daughters when I am too old to drive and have to surrender my driver license to the DMV.

After 8+ years of ownership, I can say that I admire this car more than ever before. If I can afford another sports car, it'll have to be the stablemate of my NSX.

I've been kicking myself for selling my 70 Pontiac GTO for $1600 back in 79. I needed the money for tuition. Now an good condition GTO will worth no less than $20k in the market today.

May get a Ferrari in the future but the NSX stays with me until infinity. Why? Reliable.

That is a fact!
I must admit, I get bored quickly. so I've decided to keep my NSX for possibly ever as a daily driver but keep going thru other toys to keep my interest up in cars general.
For example, I just picked up an awesome 89 Lotus Esprit SE for shits & giggles.
will have a Ferrari and/or Lambo one day!
and when they break every other time I drive them, then I'll just jump in Mr. Reliable, the NSX.

I happen to be fortunate enough to own 1 of the 6 silver/ivory NA1 5-speed coupes (1991).

No sale!!!!

Im an owner forever as well. I wouldn't sell it for anything.

Similar stats here ... as far as we can tell, mine is 1 of only 3 Magnum Grey in the UK and one of these is a FHC thats lives on the track.

I had originally thought that after a few years a Gallardo or Aston would replace the NSX, but having parked next to both and gone 121 against both I no longer think them worthy to replace the NSX.

For now and for 2mrow, it will be the NSX!

I have been very lucky and have been driving NSXs for the majority of my driving life. I told my wife a few months ago that I do not remember much about life before having an NSX. Granted, there are other cars that interest me, but the NSX will not leave me while I am still alive. Now, I may buy other cars to share time with the NSX, but there is no reason to get rid of my baby. I have every intention of driving this car for decades to come, and look forward to getting to my goal of 500,000 miles. :)

List of OEM parts required to keep the NSX forever

I plan to keep mine forever as well.

Here is the list of OEM parts I think I'll need to stock up on, as they're impossible for any after-market manufacturer to duplicate:

11000-PBY-J00 BLOCK ASSY., CYLINDER $3869.43
13200-PBY-J00 ROD ASSY., FR. CONNECTING (A) $631.65
13220-PBY-J00 ROD ASSY., FR. CONNECTING (B) $631.65
12100-PBY-J00 CYLINDER HEAD ASSY., FR. $1913.92
12300-PBY-J00 CYLINDER HEAD ASSY., RR. $1913.92

So ... twelve pistons, four heads, two blocks, all add up to $22974.34.

That's an excellent deal, in relative terms, when you compare it to the big bucks people are paying to have a shop do just minor service on their NSXs.

You might as well stock up on a few camshafts at $439.32 each. The cylinder heads only include the aluminum castings, not the camshafts or the valve assemblies.

No G35. There's a lot already here in Brunei. I like my toys to be rare. It's good to see the Testarossa's getting lower and lower in value here. Already in the range of being affordable but I'll wait until I get a better paying job so I could breathe easier.
Is there a G35 in your future?

I too plan to keep my 95 until I can't drive anymore. To ensure that my leg strength does not hold me back, I bought an auto. If my legs are shot, I can still shift with my hands in sport shift mode.

The only other possibility is to sell my 95 for a newer NSX.

Good Luck Everyone!
