If a skilled driver was to race around a track, which car would he turn faster lap times in?

1) Factory NSX-R

2) My NSX with the following mods:

1) CTSC
2) Type R sway bars and chassis bars
3) Falken Azenis RT615's
4) header and Exhaust, cats. Dyno average 368 HP at wheels.
5) Racing Brake oversized BBK kit.
6) Titanium Dave's short shift kit, harness bar and 5 point harness
7) About 150 pounds of weight reduction
8) R wing, diffusor

BUT.... riding on STOCK springs and shocks. T, not coupe. I don't know about the weight difference, but I have no engine cover, no cats, lighter headers and exhaust, no spare or tools, floormats, R wing. Standard heavy battery.

I am seriously asking because my car is not factory tuned. It is a mish-mash of performance parts. I am sure the stock springs and shocks are no joy on a track. No compliance parts (rear beam, toe links, etc). But to its benefit, it is the fastest color.

I really don't know what would happen. What do you think?

Completely off topic, since you have no engine cover, how does the rear glass seal.[this is for my benefit]. Thanks.

Did you vote for my car? you voted for the R didn't you... and now you want info?

Its actually a bit of a problem. Something needs an adjustment. I see a slight shake at speed on the rear glass. I am pretty sure it will go away with an adjustment of the latch, but there is no tight seal. I don't mind, its just a small gap that probably lets air circulate a little more.

Thanks, I voted yours BTW. It should pull away in the straights nicely w/CTSC, stop harder with BBK.

Get some JRZ's and be done with it. I voted yours btw

lol... thanks.... but I am looking for truth man! truth! :)

I know... I am a real pansy when it comes to my suspension. The roads around here SUCK. Worse is the nose scraping all the time.

I would love to hear from some of the track guys. I just got my RB kit... can't wait to put it on.

Well its a tight race so far... 4:3 for the NSX-R. Don't you guys think a BBK, better track tires and a 100 HP difference is enough to overcome the gain of R coils? I know on the straights my CTSC'd car would leave my stock car for dead! And that power is there from idle to 8K. FLAT. Did I mention its silver? like a bullet?

I voted for yours....

The NSX-R is the reference... but let me throw out some thoughts:

the difference between a NSX-R and a regular NSX, chassi wise, is some, but not that big...arround tsukuba circuit...i say that a stock NSX-R would take down some 2 or 3s from your car stock..
But your car is not stock...not the chassi...less the engine...i think that overall, your car would be faster because i think what you have more in power is bigger that what you have less in chassi...

just my thoughts

I scrape my lip every now and then....they are made to tear off...and you rather have it tear off then have to replace your bumper.......I had my car for 2 years now lowered on JIC FLTA2's and I do scrape every now and then on some steep driveways. But overall I do not have too many problems with scraping or having to replace a lip yet.

The JRZ's ride very soft from what I hear and is high end suspension. And some of my friends who ran JIC's moved up to the JRZ's. Nothing wrong with JIC's by the way but they are stiffer in ride compared to JRZ's from what I am told from people running them.

I also have the RB oversized 2 piece open slotted rotors on the car. You may have to shave some of the caliper like I did to clear them. Four of us bought the kit and we all had to shave the caliper to clear them for the wheels. I like the brakes very much by the way. Only thing is I get a lot of brake dust build up in the wheels and you have to run a minimum of 17's to clear.

So my 91 stockers are no good to me anymore as spares.

By the way don't be surprised if the LBBP guys are biased in the voting. ;)

It really depends on the race track.

I've got nothing but respect for you and your car but I think you've got to consider that the NA2 NSX-R

- has more than the stock NSX hp
- track suspension
- almost r-compound tires
- tuned brakes
- tuned aero

The only area you would gain is when the car is pointed straight. You'd lose in braking, while turning, and corner exit. Not necessarily b/c of your aftermarket brakes, 615s, or CTSC, but b/c of the suspension.

Eh, but I dunno. It'd be an interesting duel for sure.

Honda Fit driven by Michael Schumacher FTW.

You aren't serious are you? There is only so much the driver can do. Even if it's Schumacher. A fit against a supercharged NSX?!

!! TUSUKUBA TIME ATTACK !!

I used Tsukuba in Forza Motorsport 2, Nordschleife would have taken all day.

TURBO2GO I was able to set up a car very close to yours, some small differences.

2005 Acura NSX in Sebring Silver with:

  • CTSC
  • Sports Sway Bars
  • Sports Tyres (+0.05 lateral G)
  • Port Matched Titanium Anti-Reversion Headers
  • Big Bore Exhaust, No Cats
  • Racing Brake Kit
  • Short Shifter
  • BYS R-Style Wing
  • Marga Hills Rear Diffuser
  • -73lbs weight reduction on top of above mods

In-Game Car Comparison:

<img src="http://www.fundelivered.com.au/temp/comparo.gif" width="489" height="529">

Aside from mods above, both cars using stock alignment, tire pressure etc.

After 8-10 laps in each, TURBO2GO's car was consistently lapping mid-59s, Stock NSX-R high 1:00's.

Best lap 59.4 TURBO2GO, 100.8 NSX-R.

Some points:

* NSX-R simply gets killed by the extra 100hp. Maybe the NSX-R has more than 290hp but the game uses the published figures.
* Falken Azenis RT615 tires are not in the game. The tires I selected are probably on similar with Goodyear GSD3s - and gave slightly better lateral grip than the stock NSX-R tires - maybe this is not entirely accurate?
* Without boost, NSX-R is far easier to drive consistently in terms of exiting corners and applying power on sweepers.

So according to Forza Motorsport 2... TURBO2GO WINS!

You can pay me later mate

Ozzie, you rock brother!

This is the funnest thread I have posted on prime.

How does the R still have a higher acceleration rating?!

I bet you my car can track around faster than Dave's car:biggrin: Simply put, even though he has CTSC and extra 60 or so HP, my NA set up is easier to drive and my full type R set up will off set the HP:tongue:

Dream on buddy.... I just beat the real thing... not some wannabe conversion project.

Vance,
I know you don't like suggestions, but I suggest you not bet. You would lose the bet for sure even if you have 500rwhp. Reason is simple, not with those worn out ES100 tires, seriously:biggrin:. No R-parts can over come worn out so so tires.

It is not extra 60hp, different dyno, different results. He "could" have 400rwhp on our dynos. Thomas put down 392rwhp on Autowave dyno on a 02+ and he doesn't have all the supporting mods.

Wow! good job:biggrin: I just finished setting up the cars in Forza.

Dave,

You win hands down in straightline against NSX-R however, stock suspension is your weakest link. IMHO NSX-R will still win at tracks that doesn't have a lot of extended straights. Its got 2800lbs weight + 4.235 final drive, suspension, tire, stiffer chasis, etc. For example Tsukuba circuit, NSX-R do really well even against cars that are much....faster in straightline. Edit (but you won according to OzzieJohn's Forza test, that is amazing for a tight track like that).

There were a NA2 NSX-R suspension on YJ for $800usd:eek:. Probably ended at less than $1500. If you really like driving that is the most impressive r part you can buy.

I drove a 3.2L 6spd "COUPE" recently with Brembo BBK on all 4 corners. The braking power it got is unreal, I never experienced something brake this hard and easy. You can never have too much braking power.

Check out this video, pause at 33sec into the video, take a look at the times at 1/8mile and at 1:42sec into the video, check out the Z6 Z06 time:

You can see my timeslip from the drag strip in my gallery. It was before headers/ another round of weight reduction and worn out 245/40/17 T1S tires during hot summer day, launching off idle, even at that track conditon and power level, I felt I could of easily done 7.8sec if I get to run a few more times and get more comfortable. At current power level and weight 7.6~7.7sec without professional driver.

Is the Honda Fit large enough to park in a corner?
